Polaris guys beating their chests LOL

More competition is great, and for us Cat guys we can only hope to see some new technology in 2012.

Polaris has been a real dud in the last few years as far as building a quality product. They really need this sled to be successful, and only time will tell on that one, but for the sake of competition I hope it is. Unfortunatly Polaris has lost a lot of customers from the 900 blunders to the new 800 that they are still trying to figure out: I think this will affect their Season1 sales of this sled. Offering a 4 year warranty is great, but if the thing ends up being in the shop all the time who cares if it is covered by a warranty. Personally I think the sled looks good from the side, but the front of the sled and hood are pretty ugly in my opinion.

Looks like they're only giving up 20 HP to Cat and Doo for next year. WTF?
I hope for the sake of the guys buying them that they are at least reliable and run like they should, if so, it will be the first Poo 800 built since '05 that does! I would have more confidence if they had at least figured out why the '08-10 never worked right.....instead they just started over on the fuel system which doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling :face-icon-small-dis

:face-icon-small-blu:face-icon-small-con the polaris dealer close to use said, highest hp+torque in 800 class this year:peep::hurt:

On who's dyno?
It doesn't matter what you do on the dyno.

You can dyno a Cat at 145 hp and the Doo at 160 and the Cat just might beat it.
It all about what you can do with it on the snow. Dyno numbers can be tweeked and influenced by condition variables...and the operator.

The new Polaris chassis are great (as in 08+) but as usual their motors are pure horse ****.

I'm sticking with Cat even though cat makes really ****ty steering setups :(

I do hope that AC steps up to the plate next year, if nothing else make a lighter higher HP M1000, or better yet a new chassis. but the competition breeds better performance thus better sleds for us.

step up to what plate, they already lead the class in horse power and have the best boon docking chassis there is, be very very careful what you ask for, if you like the XP riding position then go get a XP and leave my boondocker alone:face-icon-small-hap

If they'd build a decent steering post / hoop / bulkhead combo it'd be nice :o

Yes, it's been a real joy since switching to Cat. Let me count the fun from my '07 and '09 M1000's....

1 - Crank
2 - Broken Clutch Spiders
1 - Cooked Piston
3 - Broken Exhaust Valve Cables
1 - Diamond Drive Failure
1 - Broken Reed
1 - Broken snow flap
1 - Broken Fuel Guage
1 - Severe screwing on resale value ('07)

I'll keep riding Cat so long as they keep offering a warranty.

thats what you get for buying a sled that has a limited market, my 08m8 snopro i made 2 grand off of, my 2010 i just got offered 10,000 for it, i only owe 8 i could make 2 and put a downpayment on a 2011. these M's resale value and reliability have been great for me to upgrade since 06. loving it! never had a motor problem in an 700 or 800 motor since 06, second pull everytime.

Try making this complaint to the polaris guy's that have lost multiple sets of pistons and a couple cranks just this year and didnt get them covered on warranty because they re-routed their hood wires off of the exhaust pipe. They paid 12,000 for those sleds new and are selling them now for $5000 for an 09!

Fact is, Polaris has quality control problems. Then they have chosen to screw customers on warranty claims.

You would have to be nuts to buy a new one IMO. I would get a new assault if I also had the cash for a new Cat to ride while the Poo was broken. To honestly think the new model is going to be problem free is a pipe dream...just keep hittin that pipe boys, I'll be riding.

I would love to see them make a comeback. The Pro chassis looks great and the wieght reduction is what we all want. But with the Cat making more power, on a proven chassis, with proven reliability...again, you would have to be nuts to buy one. Gt as excited about it as you want, I will be waiting to see if it actually works before they get any of my money.

When you fined one for $5000.00 let me know, more like $6500.00 low to 8500.00 high. most got there sleds in the high 10s to the low 11s.
Allot of pistons yes but very few cranks, less than SKI-DOO and maybe a few more than cat. NOT ALL D8S LOST PISTONS

What? Is that Canadian? Surely nobody paid that much. I paid $9100 out the door for my 09 D8 and I'm not selling it for $5000 (I'll keep it first).

I'm excited to ride the new Pro R chassis. Say what you want about Polaris (I've never had a burn down yet), but at least they have a new chassis.

I don't have to say anything about Polaris. Spend a little time reading the forums. I suppose you can deny there are problems just because you didn't have any but that is hardly an honest assesment.

Sure they have a new chassis. What they needed MUCH worse than that was a reliable, powerful engine in either chassis. I do hope it works out for them, if it does I would ride one. I rode Polaris exclusively for 10 years. I have ridden my buddies IQ's, nice sleds.

Thing is, Cat doesn't need a new chassis. The weight is down within 10-15 lbs of Poo's new chassis and it is proven bulletproof. I also find it by far the best to ride of the three. In fact my riding group today consists of an XP, an IQ and my M. I can see first hand what works.

I can't afford to gamble on Polaris right now. If you can not admit it is a risky choice, you aren't paying very close attention.

I wouldn't be braging about poo's new chassie yet I have several freinds that are still on 04 and 05 edges because they hate the way dragons are unpredictable on the hill. We had a 07 600 155 rmk demo when they first came out for the weekend it was pretty funny watching them fall off it all day. They are all waiting to ride the new pro to see if it's less tippy and more stable if not they are thinking of going to cat. Oh and there also hoping that the new 800 don't need new pistons every year. Everyone *****ed about the old 800 poo cranks but as long as you keep a good clutch on them they have not had any problems. Every dragon at our local poo dealer has needed pistons they had not blown up yet but some of them where down to 80 psi on 1 or both sides.

that new polaris is so damn ugly! i don't care how well it works, i just can't get over the way it looks. what were they thinking?
Yeah...at least the big automakers waited 30 years to bring back their classic timeless muscle car body designs. Polaris waited, what, all of 11 years before bringing back the Indy hood! Hopefully for them it all works out.
