There is only a debate because the Doo guys are desperate to catch up to the Polaris. The Axys is so good they feel they need to try and find faults with it to make their poor choice look better. They act like 50cc's and 10 hp is going to make that old crate a world beater. It still has a list of problems they haven't corrected. It hasn't caught up and wont until Doo gets serious and properly redesigns the chassis for mountain riding. The Doo guys are still clinging to reliability as their trump card against the Poo. Sadly, the Poo's just are not exploding anymore and that supposedly poor engine design spanks their ride off the line all day long.
You need to ride them to make the choice. Some people can live with mechanical parts sharing the foot well spaces, and a wobbly rear skid, and a flat steering post angle to get an extra 500 miles form a set of pistons. I wouldn't keep either around that long so I choose the lighter, quicker, superior riding machine.
A piston deto-ing itself to bits is not a design problem.
I personally don't really understand the whole debate. Why do people need to keep debating which one is better. some people like blondes, some like brunettes . Who cares, as long as your riding...
Very very few issues with the AXYS for the numbers of them being ridden hard in the mountains. Engines are not a perfect science, Polaris produced one of the best mountain sleds ever and they haveBut why would a stock sled do that? Who knows? He said the dealer told him it was definitely from a bad piston. It wasn't just the top of the piston that was trashed. There where good sized pieces of the skirts in the case. It have been caused by a bad sensor or something of that nature. All I'm saying is people act like these sleds don't have issues......they all do. Regardless of brand. Like I said I couldn't care less who rides what. This guy was a hard core Doo guy until two years ago. He rode a pro, loved it and bought one, that sled never had a problem. He now rides an axys and loves it but he is a little gun shy with the engine giving up so soon.

Held up well so far. Time will tell if the longevity is there.
The Gen 4 will have some issues as ALL sleds do, hopefully Doo
Has produced an incredible and reliable mountain sled that takes
Doolade to the next level. Safe riding to all my mountain riding brothers and sisters. BTW, my 16 AXYS is the best sled I've ever
Ridden for my style of riding.
Pistons don't just do that.
