Polaris acquires Klim.

Hey guys, this is John Summers the Marketing Director for Klim.

I have been with Klim for 14 years. During that time I’ve seen some amazing things happen. Over the years I’ve come to realize that it’s because of you guys… and because of the trust you have put in our ability to deliver functional clothing, this was made possible.

I know all of the people here at Klim would not do anything to lose that trust. The strong emotions over this move with Polaris, from some current Klim gear owners and Klim vendors, is an indication that we have a lot to live up to in order to maintain that trust.

I have been involved in this acquisition process for some time now and I can tell you guys that this is not a hostile takeover or a situation where Polaris is going to take the brand and let it fizzle out. This is not about Polaris doing something with the brand in a different direction than we’ve been working for all these years. This acquisition is about Klim continuing to do what we have always done, and that is to build high quality functional clothing.

Polaris has been very clear from the beginning to us and we have been very clear to them that the Klim brand will be untouched, we will run it autonomously. It will be ours to run the way it always has.

Our warranty process will run the same. Our warranty rate has always been very low so to say that they will try to make us squeeze profit by shrinking the rate will not work. There is very little there to squeeze. Quality and efficiency thru our manufactures will work the same way.

It is still our duty to continue to work with the vendors we have established relations with… and to grow that family of vendors in the future. Polaris understands that we are the experts at what we do which is why they pursued an alliance in the first place.

Again this is not a takeover of the brand it has nothing to do with that.

The value Polaris sees in this relationship is, of course, what we have done, and will do in the motorsports industry. That value also extends to the new opportunities we have coming up in the next several years that will allow us to realize enormous growth in other untapped areas. Polaris will also bring their other clothing brands to us to help them design and develop those brands to improve quality and function.

For us obviously to realize this growth it requires the funds to do this. Our traditional way of funding our company doesn’t work anymore. To fund this growth it requires a different way of doing it. We could have went outside the industry for funding, but why not have a financial partner that already understand our business and can appreciate what we have been able to do over the years.

For Klim it is about building functional gear for whatever you ride that is what it is always been about and that is what it will always be about.

We have had way too much fun and have made too many great relationships with our fellow riders to do it any other way.

So if you ride red, yellow, green or blue…Klim remains committed to “raising the bar” and providing you with quality snowmobile gear that you will be confident in and proud to wear.

I know talk is cheap, and we will prove our continuing commitment to quality products and customer service, to YOU, through our actions.

i know if i pay that dollar fifty for the candy bar i can eat it and crap it out anytime i choose to...( well maybe not choose the precise time of the exit of the product)

JOHNNYLINGO,

Over the years Klim has been a huge supporter of land access (financially), and we all deeply appreciate it
If you are reading this Ed.... Thank you!

Will Polaris continue this support at the same level from their "klim" division?

Time to switch gear I guess. Always loved Klim gear but it will go into the dumpster now.

That will show them!! Because as soon as Polaris purchased Klim it automatically made all existing Klim gear junk.

In fact depending on what size you wear, feel free and ship your stuff to me and I'll make sure to "dispose" of it properly.

In all honesty..................Give it time and see what happens. What do you have to loose?

LOL--I had edited my post right after posting it but apparently it didn't save.

I edited it to read the "quality will go into the dumpster now".

I have no plans on throwing away my gear. I plan on taking care of it because it is probably the last of the good stuff.

John@Klim,

Some of the people posting on here would complain about finding a $20 bill in the street if it was dirty.

Or readers are passionate about this sport and are worried that the top notch Klim gear they love will change in the future.

As you said...

I know talk is cheap, and we will prove our continuing commitment to quality products and customer service, to YOU, through our actions.

The proof will be in the pudding in the years to come... all the rest is speculation.

Keep making gear that I can rely on... and I'll be happy!!

I agree with MH's post about the complaining...

I think it would be naive to think that Klim won't change in the future because of this merger, buyout, whatever you want to call it. The big question is if it will be for the better, or for the worse. A company doesn't spend millions of dollars on a brand and not expect to have any input. In my own meager personal experience I witnessed a company become publicly held, struggle, but then eventually rebound to become profitable. Lots of factors involved in that one, but rest assured, stockholders will have a say when it comes to the bottom line. I have had both good and bad experiences with both companies (mostly good) so I am curious to see how this works out.

Klim has always treated me well and I will continue to support them until proven otherwise. Give them a chance.

I have always been a big supporter of Klim. This news hit me hard and had really ruined my day.

Polaris has done an excellent job of alienating many of it's customers. I know myself and others will not contribute to the paychecks of anyone with that company.

Sorry Klim, bad move. Glad my Klim will never wear out anyway. :face-icon-small-win

OK Polaris, Use this as an opportunity.
Move all manufacturing from Krapholistan to US & Canada,
Keep quality top notch and
Continue Stellar customer service
I believe there are enough sledders willing to pay a reasonable premium for a product made by real people, not third world piss-bisquits.

There are thousands of small communities (such as ours) that need employment for women, & I would believe garment manufacturing would fit the bill nicely.
