pistons

you couldnt run fast enough to give me a set of polaris cfi pistons they are JUNK. rkt pistons are the best replacement piston that i have found really good tolerences and dont loose power after a few hundred miles from slopping around in the bore. if you are out of warrenty its time to slap a set in you will be very happy. i have one in my shop now 11 pro 650 miles broken skirt and a nice vent hole in the bottom of the case two months out of warrenty 3500 in parts from polaris to fix it right, and yes a set of rkt pistons are going in. i have put them in cfi 4 (dragons) working very well also

Re these different in design or change compression? Want to run them with your turbo head.

You should also have your cylinders sized in case they are out of spec correct? Just dropping them in a cylinder that has to much clearance could be trouble.

I installed the Drop In kit on my 2013 without a mile on it and now have about 800miles this season and running strong...Nice job Kelsey!

RKT has two versions - stock replacement, or

drop in kit which require his domes on either a new head or sleeper head. These drop in kit pistons change port timing, are shorter, and require head mods to get compression back.

I have the drop in with his head. Wosner pistons, over 1000m on them now, and their isn't a mark I can see through the exhaust. Performance vs. stock isn't comparable. It crushes stockers now. FWIW.

Shows how many they're going through on warranty, because I'd like to think that they haven't sold a single one to a customer out of warranty.
Brings up a question. Poo has had essentially the same problem since the 08 CFI 4's came out, right?
They could pay someone like IndyDan, RKT, PAR, Fastrax, a WHOLE lot of money to solve their production engine problems and still get off cheap compared to the warranty repairs they're paying out to the dealers.
He!!, if I was a sled dealer, the only brand I'd sell is Polaris. They're popular, sell well and have an amazing # of warranty claims to make service money off of. Everyone knows you don't make money selling sleds, you make it fixing them!

I believe I read somewhere that indydan uses the stock pistons on his motors but fixes the size of the cylinders.

Kelsey, do you have any "Fix-Kit" style setups?
I am finally getting my motor back together after having a piston skirt and cylinder skirt come out the bottom of the motor.
As of now it is forged internals only for my motor and the "Fix Kit" is the direction I am headed.

I am not familiar with Wosner pistons. Are they cast or forged? If they are forged, how much piston clearance do they need?

Thanks

wossner is high quality forged pistons made in germany.piston to cylinder wall clearance was 0.14 mm on my 2011.this was measured 10mm from bottom of piston back to front.you will not seize these piston.i have not.

pus,

What have you measured with a stock piston in the same cylinders?

Kelsey doesnt offer a "Fix Kit". Spend some time on the phone with him and you will undertsand why. The Wossner pistons are a piece of art compared to the crappy stockers. A proper piston, balanced correctly, and with the correct tolerences will not break skirts (piston nor cylinder). I have 1k of HARD miles on Kelseys direct replacements (just this season). Myself and my sled could not be happier. Sled idles, pulls, and flat out works better.

If anyone wants a pair of CHEAP stock pistons, PM me, haha.
