Polar Bear Watercross Update for 2008

BoB.................

I think you misunderstood, 60 feet is the length not the depth. Correct me if I am wrong? 60 feet doesnt sound very long to me, but my sled dont like water so 20 feet is enough! If it happens, are you gonna jump? I wouldn't miss it! -00's

No the deep spot in the river is 60 deep. It's about 1/4 mile across.

The ramp is a dirt ramp with maybe a 10ft drop off the bank into the water.

There's also a town fair and wake board comp all weekend = hot wakeboard chickies flaunting around

Holy Sh!t..........

Thanks for the correction, I guess there is no room for a mistake! I'll be just fine watching. Thanks! Oh, one more question. How fast is the river moving?

I just looked on the map to find where Ione is......... It is so far east from western Wa, that it would take a week just to get there! I'll have to miss that one.

But back to the Polar Bear event........ I've been looking forward to jumping since I first saw it last Sept. I'm gonna feel like a jackass if I gotta tell all my co-workers and friends that it's a no-go.
Whitefish, tell me a story..... Who would a guy talk to make this thing happen? What will it take?

Hey FlyZ28- Where to start? Well, Bill Carson is the current president and his wife Cindy is the watercross coordinator. go to http://www.polarbearsnowmobile.com/About_Us.html
to get contact information.

You ask what it will take to make it happen? From experience, it takes someone to be the head dog to arrange and manage every little detail. Some of the items are in no particular order... camping arrangements, honey buckets, audio sysytems, walkie talkies, awards, quads, sea doos, boats, entertainment, garbage, insurance, safty related stuff and on and on. In addition it takes many thousands of dollars plus sponsorship for the above items and also lake rental.

With all of that, every item needs to have someone do it. That's wher the indians come in and there seems to always be just enough of them. Never too many though.

Not sure if this helps but I would like it to happen as much as anyone. I was building a custom ground-up watercross sled until the plug was pulled. Big disappointment here.

In addition, last years event, for those that didn't attend, was absolutely awesome. It went smooth as silk. Everyone had fun and attendance was high. We were going to add a new event to the list as well. So you would have drag races, jumping and now head-to-head circle 8's. If time allowed we would run radar runs. Anyway, it suks cause we had alot of new equipment to make it run like it was supposed to.

Thanks for the details whitefish. With everything you mentioned, it's no wonder no one wants to be the head chief. Do you know if the event made money for the club last year? I'm guessing it didn't make enough to make it worthwhile, huh?
Such a bummer. I'd be all up for donating my time to make the calls and arrangements for things like lake rental, camping area, garbage, honeybuckets, etc., but I have absolutely no knowledge of insurance and safety stuff. Nor do I have thousands of dollars to front for such an event in the hopes of making it back.
Fordman, rumor has it that you have $$$. What do you say, wanna hold a watercross event this year?:)

It would be interesting to know if/ how much the profit/ loss was last year.

sure would be cool for someone to take over and get r done.im sure alot of people would donate if money was a problem.

Did it make money? Yes. How much? Can't say publicly. Maybe Bill or Cindy will share that on a personal level if you ask.

As I shared before, the main need is getting a chief and pulling the tribe together.

Once I heard the event wasn't happening I stopped the sled project and scheduled a vacation during that time. So I'm out. On the upside... I'll have a bunch of "Graveler is Gay" pictures in front of some pretty cool places.
