Poachers in North Bend

My wife took the dog for a walk this morning (up near Rattlesnake) and at the end of our road stumbled upon three elk legs laying discarded on the road. They were clealy cut off the night before. It takes one classy guy to kill an elk in someone's neighbor hood and then to top it off, leave parts of it behind in the middle of the road. Disgraceful actions like this piss me off to no end and ruin the public's perception of hunters. I'd love to see the book thrown at this guy.

sorry about the legs man it would not fit in the back of my civic:eek:
jk

i completely agree i hope this guy does get caught and get the worst punishment. it is people like him that give hunters a bad name , but if you truly think about it arent we all poachers in a vegetarians mind?

Dude, you live on the Rim....not in Issaquah. Maybe they were thinking of being at a buffet, take all you want, eat all you take and they have a small belly....;) Was it just the legs or also the rest of the carcass? Maybe someone's wife said they don't like the wild meat and got rid of the legs while the hubby layed on the couch..

Moon lives up there and he is definitely a poacher, he's always in my track trying to get up the hills....:D He's also looking for free beer and wings and seems to show up when they are available, that is for sure a poacher....kinda like that movie with Snoopdogg, when he magically appears each time those dudes smoke weed.....couldn't find any video clips of that, mostly because I can't remember the movie!!!:beer;:D

Poaching or Hunting????

Did you think maybe season is open by chance--Bow or shotgun? I have not looked--but time is about right.

But if it is poaching--I hope the catch the person and do the same thing to them?

Did you call the game dept.?

Besides--Most of the NBer's are paoching in one way or another:eek:;)

LOL

We don't live in the Rim, just close by. Despite what some may think, folks out here are civilized and don't expect someone to be firing a rifle next to their homes. It's irresponsible and illegal. Our neighbor closest to this area heard the shots last night after midnight. A herd of 25+ elk have been bedding down at night in this area and some tard just couldn't resist.

This happened last year too and we did call the game department. Nothing you can do unless you catch them in the act.

i'm sure it is muzzleloader season. but not sure about that area

I really doubt if it was poached they would take the time to cut off the legs and leave them at the end of your road i would think they would have it all ready and soon as the truck was backed up it would have been loaded and out of there. as far as some one firing shots in your neiborhood well if it borders public ground open for hunting thats just the way it is. Ive seen house after house built along the river here and everyone bit ch when duck season opens

This was on a privately owned road, and the 500 acres around it are all privately owned. Due to past issues, it is posted on the road that it is private property and hunting is prohibiited. I'm wondering if they left the legs just to spite the local residents. She didn't see anything else around, but didn't go looking off the sides of the road either.

I hope it wasn't the big bull that hangs around here. He's freaking awesome! Only 35 minutes from Seattle and we see elk and deer almost daily, and on a lucky days bobcat, bear, and cougars have been seen. We love living out here with all the wildlife around and the last thing we want is them being hunted in our neighborhood.

And I thought this was going to be a thread whining about gravy... what a let down.

me too, I had high hopes!!!!! during general Elk season last year some guy shot one right by a house on state land, they called the law and they where legal. ever check the states hunting areas, seattle even has a hunting season!!!!

not sure if this link will work or nothttp://fortress.wa.gov/dfw/gispublic/apps/gohunt/default.htm

seattle is listed in GMU 454

This could be true--as I pointed at earlier---But shooting at midnight is Not!! It is what it is!! POACHING!!!

It isn't too tough to put two and two togethor. A heard of elk hang out in the vacant lot next to a home. A gun shot is heard at midnight. Legs hacked off of an elk are laying in the road first thing in the morning. It is pretty clear that something is amiss here.

Of course nothing can be done without proof, but we can be more aware locally and people on here can keep their ears open for an ignorant poacher bragging about what he did.

Doesn't this piss off guys who are faithful hunters? I know guys who travel far and go out for days only to come home empty handed. I figured if they saw some sleezebag getting a trophey elk this way they'd be fired up.
