Pulled the Champions out after about 400 miles. I've seen better.....

What oil are you using? Check your oil cable an make sure its going back all the way (should be OK with the FBF cable). It looks like they are running cold. Was it running OK when you pulled them?? I run NGK and they have never looked like that. The Champs I pulled out were fine and I kept them as a spare set.

Felt like it was running fine, I did notice that the last couple trips I haven't been getting above 7150rpm's but I attributed that to the MTX weights I put in last year and will probably have to drill out one of the rivets I put in. (got too late in the year to see what the extra rivet did)

Running Amsoil Interceptor, same oil as the rest of my sleds and they all look pretty good, have never had a set of plugs look like this. Going to go back to NGK Iridium's and see how those turn out.

I'll check the pump and make sure it's moving freely.
 
Me neither.

I've got the exhaust valve hoses plugged and unhooked from the solenoid, going to pull them and see how they look. The throttle body throats even had a little black tar substance sitting in them.
 
Checked with my mechanic friend and he said they are running cold and Champions are prone to do that. Run the NGKS, doesn't have to be the Iridiums.
 
I've had champions in mine since it was new and they have never looked like that. Your sled is using to much oil.
 
running a cooler plug is better as long as they are not fouling. running a hotter plug increases your chance of burning your motor up.

If 7150 is your top rpm check your clutches to see if you are shifting all the way out of if you have a broken spring. That is to low for top rpm and your engine would be bogging if the clutches were trying to upshift to fast before it was making enough power.
 
Fix whatever is causing your RPM issue.....whether clutching, oil pump or whatever.....not making enough RPM your probably not making enough heat. I wouldn't judge anything by the plugs unless it's making the correct RPM.

That's on the to do list this weekend. I'm a good 5,000' lower in elevation from where I normally ride so I should try and take it out around here and see what I'm topping out at and go from there. Is it safe to assume that if I'm around the 7800 mark here, then I need to drop some weight to make up the difference from what it is out there? or should I be seeing that much of a drop in R's for that little elevation change? My 7's rev out about the same here and there.

But I can see how not getting to the proper R's is probably not creating enough heat.
