please help, SLP powerdome head and detinating pistons on 800R

so here is the lowdown. i blew the crank on my 07 800R 151. 1 month later the backordered engine showed up and was installed. After 4 rides about 50-60 miles each i figured that the motor had been broken in and ready to really ride hard. before the 5th ride i had the SLP powerdome head installed and went for a ride the day i picked it up. not even fifteen miles into the ride the left piston detinated. i only put Chevron fuel in my sled and am totally anal about only using 91 octain or higher.

if you have any suggestions on what could have caused this problem i would be greatfull. as of today they have replaced the piston and the damaged Dome and i am told the problem is fixed. my fear is that nothing has really changed and the very next ride i go on i might have the same problem, or is this just my bad luck and a total fluke or bad piston. so far i have been towed out of the backcountry 3 times. twice with a blown motor and once with a blown chaincase. i really really do not want to get towed out or walk out again this winter. thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Too high of compression for your elevation or bad gas!!!

What is your elevation? I ride from 3K to 8K and was told by Justin at SLP that the lowest compression domes they have available (13.7 to 1) require race gas below 5K. The domes they installed for the Snowtech review were 14.5 to 1and therefore are only good for premium fuel (without adding race fuel) above 6.5K to 7K. Bad gas or jetting that is too lean would be the next suspects. Find out what domes you have and check your elevation and I suspect you will find the problem. It is too bad that SLP doesn't at least have a dome of 13 to 1 (stock for the 2007 800R is 12.2 to 1) for the lower elevation crowd that doesn't have race fuel available. Good luck!

i am riding between 6000ft. and 9500ft. it blew at around 8000ft. give or take a few hundred. i did see the parts book when ordering the head and as far as i know the right elevation domes where ordered but not sure. if by chance any one knows thier part numbers the number on the Dome is 12-380D

1) did you rejet per SLP recomendations??
2) did you get the right domes??
3) is the timing stock??
4) pistons just dont deto...something caused it...BJ

fuel is most likely the problem ad 20 % race fuel and check from there. To bad no det sensor on those. Also chekc the timing even tho it is not really adjustable a 3-4 degree advance can happen with a new engine and can be dealt with. Since that is the easiest I would put it back together confirm timing and run some 100 sunoco fuel.
