I have an 06 apex with 19T turbo, this winter it starts when in shop but will not start when cools off, havent rode far yet .Only loaded in and out of truck. Drained out old race gas and filled with 114 purple power which i burn every year. Though I had slight miss so replaced plugs. Always the same, starts fine when in warm shop but will not fire when outside, even if it is 30*. Changed Yamaha computer to -10, tried -25 and 0. Sled seems to run fine when starts. Last year started fine.

what plugs are you running in it? do you run full race gas or a 50/50 mix?

Have you ever had these issues with the 114 race fuel? High octane race fuel like that and cold temps make a hard start sometimes. Although 30 deg isn't that cold...

Mick had cr9ek now put stock CR9EB with stock .028 gap.
It was a little hard starting when -20 using this gas but never when above 0, Any ideas anyone? Thanks Called a couple places and they just suggest plugs.

try jumping it with a battery to see if it getting enough juice the apex dont start good when the battery starts to go it will turn over but wont fire.

what kind of turbo set up you running an what is your fuel control box set at what is your sea level altitude whats your fuel pressure set at and whats the air fuel ratio gauge saying at idle is it really rich iv seen this before pm me your info i maybe able to help you

I have a buddy with and apex and it wouldnt start with straight race gas below 30 degrees. Half and half race gas worked better. Also i think you are supposed to let the apex warm up before you shut it off or they have an issue with flooding. weird

if its cold and won't start, try someone else cdi box if you can get one, its a problem that i had once. mine wouldn't start outside, but if you brang it in the shop for twenty minutes, it would just fire right up, but leave it outside overnite and good luck.

These Apex's are a b i t c h to start in the cold on race fuel, it burns so cold compared to pump. I have cold fouled my plugs a few times now, and the only thing I could do was warm up the sled. Sometimes after cold fouling the plugs I had to change them. This fall I installed a coolant heater on my Apex for cold starting, sucks when its -30C in AB and travelling to BC. Now I will just plug in my sled at the hotel for a couple hours before I even try to start it.

I can post a pic on Friday when I get my sled back.
I mounted it by the secondary clutch.

P.S. Heated enclosed trailers work pretty good too ;)

X2 on the block heater, i mounted an inverter in my trailer and power it with a 6D battery. Plug it in for a couple of hours and it is good to go, because they are a pain to start in cold.

thanks everyone for the ideas, I tryed jumping battery still didn't fire. Have heater but doesn't seem to heat up motor. Mounted on hose under thermostat, thermostat housing gets warm but heat doesn't even make it to radiator. I tryed setting Yamaha computer to 0 had on -20. AF at idle is around 12.5, replaced all coil packs last spring, didnt try cdi box. used to start with race gas.

sled started at +10 when jumpstarted, but at 0 wouldn't fire, Replaced gas with premium i will see if that helps. Nont know if Kenitik audio battery is bad or not
