Please be careful out there, still more Avy's

Glad to see all made it out good. Even with avy training, you still CAN'T predict what the snow on any hill is going to do. We was climbing some big stuff this weekend. Didn't slide anything but we took the risk because its part of the sport. Mountain sled, Mountain ridding!!! Call me stupid, but we all cheer the guys in the videos climbing the big chit, but then some come on here and bash the ones that run into some bad luck. I don't get it. I'm just glad to hear good outcomes and hope to not hear of the bad ones that will happen. :beer;

The point we are trying to make is that avalanches are a lot more about bad decisions and bad timing than bad luck. Yea, risk is part of the game, but it is a little like running across a freeway - if you know what to look out for, some times are a lot safer than others and there are other times that you just need to back off if you want to be back next weekend or next year. Counting on luck, speed, and rescue gear isn't nearly as effective as understanding how avalanches work and getting (and paying attention to) a forecast.

If you chose to ride steep lines and not learn some avalanche safety, at least be honest with yourself and your family that you are playing Russian roulette and that there is a hollow point out there with your name on it.

Wow two in one week! It was my first Avy experience. I was riding a hill I had climbed for 15 or so years, it was the first time this year on the hills on that side. It is just scary unstable up there this year.

one of the biggest factors involving avy's is familiarity and complacency. Slopes that you have ridden forever and never seen slide are the ones that will get you every time. respect the hill, respect the conditions, and ride terrain suitable to the avy danger that day. live to ride another day...

Anyone who didn't sign up and take the AVY class really missed out. I learned so much. Completely worth my time and money. I really hope everyone out there will consider taking the class next year.

I was riding out of Mill Hollow today, up on the Duchesne Ridge,

That is the slide we played around on saturday during the avy essentials class.
We did the live drills on that slope.

Glad it turned out well for you.

Hey dude, don't drink the water... It's like pulling a 4place with a dually up Farmington canyon...yeah you might make it but your not respecting and your not being smart. With the lack of POW I can see how it's hard not to just climb everything...carefull all! .02
