Plasma vs. LCD tv's

Does anybody know how much resolution a computer sends to monitor? The reason I ask is some lcds you can hook your computer up. What resolution would I want for that?

buy the tv first, then adjust your resolution under your display settings of the computer to match the tv.

I had a plasma and had bad luck with a Gateway POS 42. I'd still go with a plasma after further research of the LCD. Plasma displays true black where LCD will not. One of the arguments on plasma that is somewhat valid is that they generate alot of heat. For the most part it is true and it takes a bit of power. I ran into an old friend that now works for a electronics company and told me that this is due to most Plasma screens are not calibrated very well from the factory if any and they will run hot and take more power because of it. His company sells the kit to calibrate plasma screen TV's for about $150 I believe. (Sencore out of Sioux Falls which has been around for years specializing in calibration equipment for electronics) http://www.sencore.com/markets/a-v-installation-calibration/ . He told me that by calibrating the TV correclty reduces the power draw thus reducing your heat generated and an added bonus of a lower power consumption.

Well I went to all the TV places tonight. I have decided I am getting a Vizio Plasma. Just need to decide 32" or 42".

Go as big as you can afford. You won't regret it.

I have a 60" Sony SXRD LCOS 1080P rear projection (which they don't make anymore, which is a shame) with a viewing distance at just over 10ft. It's perfect and I'm glad I didn't go any smaller.
