Hello,

It looks like my season is almost done. so im Looking for some input and suggestions on what to do to my sled this year. Little background info. I took 10 years off from sledding and this was my first year back. Also first time riding a cat! LOVED IT!!! But i need a little more get up and go.

As is sit right now this is what i have done!

07 M8 162.

Powerclaw.
SLP Pipe.
Attitude control box.
OVS torshional clutch kit with a 42/36 and a red/white spring
Fastlane no-snows.
Boss seat.
BDX Rear bumper kit.
BDX Intake
MTN addiction Gas Rack.
2-Wheel kit.
Lots of venting!!!!!

My sled has 5700km on it so im thinking its time for a rebuild?

Some things ive looked into are.

1) D&D 901 BB
2) SLP porting to finnish off the performance kit.
3) Brent Linderman porting.
4) RKT porting and head mod.

All this would be done with a fresh rebuild.

Also thinking of the Fox float skid with the burandt upgrade kit? Or timbersled!
And maybe going will some lower gears!

Any ideas or input would be great and helpful.

Tom

are you against boost? you say it needs a rebuild? put pistons in it new reeds and your boost of choice. dollar for dollar there is nothing you can do that will make the difference boost will. a pump gas kit at 7 pounds will turn it into an animal but still keep it reliable. the fun meter is off the scale :face-icon-small-hap

May be cheaper to sell your sled and pick up a used 09 M1000. Let Linderman port and pipe it and you will be off to the races. Have a good one.

Im not against boost! but they seem to be alot more finiky. And reguire alot more tunning then running! I dont need alot more just figure if i could maybe gain 20hp i would be happy! the 901bb claims 170hp for $2000 so thats sounds pretty good! considering a rebuild stock would be around $1000.

Ive herd great things about the Slp porting And linderman!!

You are in the same boat I was in. You have 1/2 of your answer already too.

You have the SLP pipe so it's probably wise to stick with one vendor for your remaining performance parts. Send your head and cylinders to SLP and have them do their magic (performance edition kit) and they will send them back to you with a preprogramed fuel controller (power commander V) that you just plug and play and never have to mess with.

Simple!

Frostbite,

How do you like you slp setup? i thought you had some problems with it?did you notice a huge difference over just the pipe? The reason im looking at the 901BB is because i cant just do the porting i need to rebuild my top end. it has 5700km on it. so logic says the BB it the betterway to go.

The only problems I have had were self induced. The sled runs awesome, it's my imbecilic moves that have caused the issues.

Yes, it's night and day better than just the pipe!

rebuild the 800 with porting (that way stock parts are always near if a quick fix is needed)and go with the new boss noss for 800 bucks and pick up your cheap reliable 40 to 60 hp...and you don;t need race gas mix as the new system has its own little bottle

Ive looked at Boss Noss website but the say they only have it for carb sleds? Noss is only fun until the bottle is empty.. But would still be fun. How are guys liking the power commander? Seems to be a few guys with problems??

its for efi as well.. ...and the bottle should last for most days of riding..??...reading posts of alot of guys that have used it for years they say most days they have left over juice and used it all they needed for a fun day

After not riding for 10 years. I dont feel the need to line the pockets of the manufactures... They make some sweet azz machines but mine will do for now. Unless they start to look how crazy they are for asking guys to pay $$$$ for them. We get killed in canada on prices!!

Qreiff. Did you still need contact info for linderman? His company is called Arctic Edge motorsports. He is out of the crowsnest pass area his number is 1-403-564-4673 he usually answers more in the morning!

If your considering putting $2000+ in Big Bore and stuff, I would boost it. A pump gas turbo will be as reliable if not more than a Big Bore. Rebuild your motor with stock pistons, that should cost you about $250, then put a turbo on it.

What pump gas turbo kits are most guys running? I just really dont want to have to tune all day when i could be riding!!

Boondocker, OVS, Cutler, Twisted....any of them should be pretty simple to setup and tune. Mine this year was pretty easy, I put in the starting numbers I was given and it was pretty close to being spot on. I had to adjust some of the lower RPM ranges to lean them out a little. What elevation are you riding?
