Placer

What a sweet day, good snow and sun all day. I burned 14 gallons of gas today in 5 hrs. The trail to the top is in and it is a super highway, on the way in I saw the railroad truck running up and down the tracks so don't ride on the tracks. There might be some stuff left but it got hit hard today by alot of people. I will post pictures later, I am beat.

Rode Saturday... was fun for sure. On my way out i saw 4-5 guys coming up the gut on older sleds with no helmets... they were getting stuck left/right - horrible place to hang out/idiotic to be riding helmet-less.

Was gonna go back today... but was too lazy and i'm watching football.

The Railroad Special Agent(actual cop), was out there patrolling the tracks... i didn't see which guy it was(because i wasn't on the tracks), but i've been warned the older RR cop is ruthless. Please don't be the guy that gets this area shut down....

Too funny! I passed those guys also as they were dropping into the "Chute of death" and was thinking "not too sure you guys should be here", but if they got that far...? Anyhow I almost stopped you to say hey to you (can't miss the pants) but there was too much POW to bother with pleasantries:D Great day!

Ha, next time! :beer;

Here is a photo my buddy Jesse Sooter took of Joey Junker and I... I wish i wasn't so lazy the next day, those pictures of Skookum look so sick. That was Joey's first day on his new 2010 Cat... got sick of wrenching on his REV!

Rode Placer Sunday.

Took a semi-new friend along. We(he) had some trouble getting up past the 2nd bench. We created a major traffic jam and for that I apologize. In my defense I figured he'd have no issues getting his XP up the hill. So there we were...two old dudes effing up the works for everyone else. Thanks to the guys who stopped and didn't get pissed.

When I suggested we bail and cruise the bottom he got just mad enough to give his sled the spurs...Hey man it's that lever on the right grip. Yeah that one. Pin it! And up the hill he went.

Things were pretty tracked up but we still had a good time.

Tried to sidehill above a ledge and sent my sled for a ghost ride.

Yeah, we went up with Junker when his crew was slow, I helped him zip-tie his coolant line back on, it seems to have held alright! I know what you mean 'bout lazy, I had a badazz camera with me but only got it out once and took some medicore pix w/it. What a waste, it's sucks to have had a couple of phenomenal days and no trophies to rember it by, not to mention bragging:rolleyes:

Ahh, I thought that was you I saw when I was headed back to the truck by the railroad tracks. I had a crank seal go bad on my longtrack but I ran it Saturday and returned Sunday with the shorty for a second awesome day.

Saw those guys' late in the day as well. First encounter was a few weeks ago coming off Turny. That group is down right dangerous. Gonna try and keep some distance when theyre out.

Saturday I got the flyer on the truck, On the way off the hill Sunday, saw the truck going down the tracks then saw a single sledder on the tracks...seemed "suspicous" lol ...soo anyhoooo (took safe route to truck) .... Was able to determine later it was a trooper. Get anybody?

I have a question about the RR tracks. I think everyone knows it is illegal to ride on the tracks, that makes sense. But what else is illegal? Are you allowed to cross the tracks, or only to go underneath them at the trestle? Thanks

Hey Storm,

I'm not positive... but i'm pretty sure its illegal ride snowmobiles on railroad property, which is pretty much anywhere out there that requires getting up on the 'railroad dike' if you will. That leaves.... jumping :) - and going underneath... Common sense would tell me they pay less attention to crossing the tracks, but again, I could be wrong, anyone have any additional information on the subject?

I don't think you're allowed within a certain number of feet from the tracks... the only legal place to "cross" them is under the RR tressel.

I work down at the rail yard so yesterday I stopped one of the railroad cops and asked him what the deal was and what we could do in that area. He told me that within 100 feet of the tracks either side is off limits. We are however okay to cross underneath any of the bridges. He said use common sense and you'll be okay. The biggest concern they have is people riding on, next to, or crossing the tracks. He told me that they will be very strict with the enforcement of their rules.

went there

went there friday the 29th, was like spring snow, was an amazing day my 2010 m8 didnt get stuck once, but was very deep spring like snow, sucks for the rest of the year cause as soon as this layer gets cold this place is going to be dangerous!!! seriously the main shoot hasnt broke yet and any new snow could cause the last and new fresh to break and its going to be deadly... but esterday was amazing bluebird day with spring like wet wet snow!!!!! please be cautious of placer from now on though!!!!!! soon as it gets cold and snows... its coming down!!!!!
