Pipes

I am wanting to put a pipe or pipes on my 800. For those of you that have had singles and twins, what would you recomend? I want to pull the rope and ride...not tune in the carbs and monkey with the clutches every time out. Whats the preference from you guys? I found set of twin CPI pipes for a good deal...should I jump on it?

In my opion go with a slp single. That what I have on my 03 800. I jetted according to the slp charts and havent touch it since. I love the way mine pulls from idle on up. My budy had psi twins on his 800 and was always messing with jetting and clutching.

You can't beat the SLP single it runs flawless everytime. Twins are too tempermental. When they run you get some extra power out of them and when they don't, it's usually when you need the power the most. I have had both CPI and SLP's twin race pipes before. The twins also seem to fall apart rather quickly too.

I've had 3 sled with twins on em, and once dialed in i haven't had to mess with them. well besides chasing a faulty temp sensor, I wouldn't shy away from them, well at least for me they have been great. and yes you can wear holes rather quickly IF you don't have in place properly. Seems like most people skip about 2 springs. but a single is also a good choice.

I love my CPI pipes, re jetted clutched per there specs and haven't had to mess with them since. Actually if your interested I will be selling them. I just picked up a turbo kit and wont be needing them.

I have had cpi twins on my sled since 03. Ridden hard the whole time. Rarely do I have to mess with anything, however I still do. I did end up with a hole in one pipe, but that was from hitting a tree and denting it. As the years go by I wonder if i would have enjoyed a single more. I keep thinking there is more performance to be had out of it, maybe it has to do with thousands of miles and no rebuild on anything:face-icon-small-sho, and slowly wearing down.

I would go with slp single and do the slp can to go with, that's what I run on mine and have never had any problems. They might not be as loud as others but the power is all there! O by the way there on a 2002 800 rmk.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I am going to hunt for a used single with a can. I hate the idea of having to adjust stuff on the sled when I am out riding.

If your going to spend the money and put out the effort over stock why wouldn't anyone run twins? Every cylinder I've ever owned has had it's own pipe, dial them in and gas and go. I've never had issues with twin or triple pipes, if they aren't running hard from idle to max rpm then they aren't set up right. I must admit they can be flimsy and you always have to run them for awhile to see where they rub, then weld pads on them so the pads rub and you don't wear holes thru them. Just my opionion, take it for what you will.
