There is not a problem with the beacon, but the Pieps beacons have upgradeable firmware. The latest release has the following upgrades:
# Frequency Measurement: This function allows you to measure the frequency deviation (from the standardized 457kHz) of any other beacon on the market.
# Old Beacon Mode: Most older analogue beacons transmit a continuous carrier (background noise) which can result in an inaccurate victim count. The PiEPS beacon will alert you when the victim count may be inaccurate.
# Improved MARK Function: More versatile
# Improved SCAN Function: Faster and more accurate
