Pics from our Incredible June 8th Ride!!!!

My son, Taylor and myself hooked up with Steve Martin and his dad, Clare in the Unitas yesterday and had one of the most awesome rides I have ever been on! I have never rode so late into the year!!! Thank you Steve and Clare for a ride that I will never forget!!! You definitely pushed me to do some incredible things on my sled that I never thought I could do! Here are a few pictures of Taylor and Steve. Sorry Steve, but I couldn't resist!!!

Upper Uintahs?

We haven't had enough snow to ride the lower Uintahs here for about a month now :(

Yeah, we trailer up from the Wyoming side and unloaded on highway when we reached snow. Clare said we were probably at about 9000 feet and we rode up from there. I would guess we got up to 11,000 plus. The highway is plowed from the Utah side to the stateline. It was just an awesome sunny day. It doesn't get any better! Nothing like spending a day in June riding sleds with great people!

Nice ..... is the pass still snowed closed over to Kamas. I heard they still had 10+ feet up on top this year.

Yep, but Utah has used big rotory plows to open up their side to the stateline. Wyoming hasn't done any plowing yet and I would say there is still a good 5-6 feet of snow on the road where Utah stopped blowing the snow off!

Looks like you guys found some open water... the XP is the worst water sled known to man. sinks like a lead brick... good thing steve was close to shore!

we were up there the 7th... you probably saw some of our skipping tracks! Cant believe the lakes are still mostly frozen

I was on a XP and didn't have any trouble at all with it. I am glad to know now that they don't water skip so well since it was my first time at it! Yeah, Steve just had a little bit of trouble, he tried to make a turn and sunk it. I don't think it wasn't so much the turn, but he said he had a weird bog just before she went down!!!

Yeah, it was amazing how so many of the lakes were still frozen! The largest lake we crossed opened up all the way after we broke it open. My kid was crazy enough to go out and try it again! Almost 200-300 yards! Then again maybe I was the crazy one for letting him hit it again!!!

As long as he made it safe to shore, it's all good dad. (Easy for me to say since it wasn't my son .... lol)

I told my wife the same thing. We all made it back safe, but she didn't quite see it the same! I wouldn't ever let him do it again if I didn't think he was able to do it. I just keep reminding my wife that if any ever does happen to us while we are riding that she needs to remember that we were doing what we love best! Without sledding I don't know what me and my kid would do together. Sledding is definitely the one thing that has brought us together and days like Sunday is what makes for a lifetime of memories together!!!!

Nice... Don't know that I would be brave enough to skip any water for that long, but I know it can be done:eek::beer;

I wish I had pictures of him doing it, but I was filming him with our camcorder and didn't get any still shots of him. Then when we got home we were lucky enough to show everyone the video and then somehow the flim got corrupted and we lost that footage!!! :(
