Photo....IceAge Mfg. Rush Mountain mod sled

The Rush is kind of like a Ferrari or Lambo... a pure sports machine with no compromise as a touring vehicle.

There are SUPER sophisticated rear mountain skids out there...

As a mountain sled, with the new bulkhead platform, it should prove to be a ripper!

I'd like to see Winter get his claws into one this season as well and see where he can push it! Can you say 390 lb Polaris mountain sled??

This is why I listed it in the IQ Forum rather than the Rush forum.. This is more an IQ than it is a "Pro Ride" sled.

Got that right Mt. Horse. The front portion of the Rush is where its at, the over-engine steering, stiffer chassis and all. This is what we all believe to be Polaro's next jump with the cool rear snow skids and all. Now I gotta gear up for an 011.

I am more concerned if Polaris will release something like this next year with a 800 at the same weight as an XP. That would probably be the best stock sled on the mountain a Fuel Injected 800, RMK IQ handling, and similar weight to an XP.

Although there were some guys in the performance section commenting whether the Rush bodywork would be suited for deep powder or not. Meaning would the vents get all clogged up. Time will tell...

Here in lies some of the manufactures delema, we want the new stuff now and somewhat expect it, cuz if they don't I'll switch brands , well how about some time to check this stuff out, u realize the rush isn't out and some want long tracks in it, geez these sleds are so purpose built these days you have ahard time getting to the deep cuz they push in the corners yet we demand more, this is a great looking sled, let em test it abit, for sure they will learn much, remember the guys from that little town in the north luv this sport as much or more than we do they are not asleep just nap sometimes IMO

i was talking to my dealer today who was in the Polaris booth at the show and he said polaris doesnt think it is going to work at all. The engineers said it will not handle worth crap. They think it will just nose dive.

Has this sled seen any snow yet? Alot of opinions that this chassis will work in the deep pow/mountains...time will tell.

Nice to see Polaris stepping up with a possible answer to the XP chassis (say what you want about the Doo clutch and engine dependability...the chassis has now proven itself to be dependable).

As well as the IQ and M chassis handle, the actual chassis technology is very outdated.

Nope it was just put together a week ago. It's not a Polaris Factory project...it's totally conceptual by Ice Age to test and promote their own products.

It's my understanding that we will be seeing a focus on stock production weight loss under the excellently consistant and proven mtn platform.

I kind of have to wonder if they just didnt say that because

A. They have something similar in the works for 2011.

B. They never thought about doing this themselves, and now realize the mistake they made.

If this chassis combo works its a pretty big push forward in weight loss department. Hopefully it works as good as it looks.

To me... the ultimate little ripper...

Rush base, CF Evans tunnel with full length u cooler , Timbersled Mtn. Tamer-X skid, Timbersled Barkbuster 39" wide front, Float EVOL R's, Carls 660 CFi kit, SLP single pipe, custom SPG seat, cromo and Aluminum parts on the steering gear, front Cooler delete, Camoplast 146" Ch extreme, longer RMK chaincase, Headlight delte, custom aluminum front bumper, FTX

Sould be sub 400 lbs dry and one of the most ridgid sleds out there

Custom wrap or paint since the new panels are paintable.

The Rush bodywork should work alright in the deep. I don't know why it wouldn't. The front end geometry is the same as it's always been on the IQ.

As for the Rush being a Ferarri, yeah, it should be, but it's also supposedly a fantastic touring ride. They're marketing it as the next new extreme thing, but eventually, that skid will find its way into the touring sleds. Maybe even a Switchback version.

would this work??? 8-12 inch longer tunnel for more cooling, also moves the linkage back where the top of track to bottom of track is closer together for the linkage to work. This also gives you 8-12inches of more floor boards for climbing positions. the rear would be weird to have the tail like on teh standard rush so they could use a snow hawk style snowflap. the rear section might get sprayed with alot of snow and make the sled heavier but the same happens with the current rmk stock suspension

Well I got to do a several mile test ride on the rush last winter. If it is anything like the short track as far as how light and easy to throw around you guys will love it.

Very Cool.

I like the pic. could the tunnel come around the suspension and extend back with like a boot over it to keep the snow out? this would add more weight but would keep the snow from flying everywhere.

how is this suspension only 28 pounds? It looks like an interesting design and I love the ice age rails I bought from them a year ago. I just can't believe that this stout looking suspension is 28 pounds.

The suspension looks very similar to a holz. The weight saving seems to be from the rails, and the fact that it is more of a beam, as it looks like there are two rail sections per side. I assume the total mass of one rail has decreased and that is where the weight savings comes from. The shocks are springless, but I am not sure if they are saving a lot of weight compared to stock floats.

The 28 lbs does seem light though..

Heres something to think about...If these new rails are beam like extrusions, and there are thru holes cut in the sides of them doesnt that then open up the inner section of the rail allowing snow, water and ice to form inside the rail? Which would add weight, and possibly crack things if it was water that had a chance to freeze quickly, like say removed from a heated shop to extreme cold outside temps for a ride.
Just food for thought. Im not even sure thats what im seeing with those new Ice Age rails or not.

No, the water would expand out the holes much easier than cracking aluminum. Think about an ice cube tray.

Even so it will still hold snow, ice and water which will make the weight savings nonexistant. Give ice a hole to lay in and it will find it for sure.
