Anyone have like a list of the different kits available for the nytro? Really only interested in pump fuel only or maybe a 50/50 mix. Would like to know a few things on each. Location of turbo(rear, mid, front), hp or boost on pump, and price. Ones I'm really curious of are MCX, Ulmer and Impulse. Would be for 8000ft+ riding. I can't seem to find prices or much info on the MCX or Ulmer

the ulmer kit is a midmount style with a cast header.. trail tank, etc etc etc. all kinds of options for a really good deal. you would need to call them and talk to them about there higer boost level kits. talk to mtdream on here, he has been running one for 2 seasons now I think.

honestly, I think for most of us, the newer pump gas kits can put us a lot farther up the hill faster then we want to get there, the need for race gas to go really fast is being phased out. so just some food for thought. the impulse kit at 17# is just dumb.. thats so freakin fast.. i run 12 on a halfway good setup and its pretty scary fun.. and i have run it at 14 and its even more fun!

alpine makes a low boost rear mount, then normal pump/race combo setups for a "front" mount.. heres there website. pretty much team canada for turbos apline turbos

Alpine makes a rear mount pumpgasser with 28rs and intercooler so when the time comes, it's an easy upgrade to add a headshim and turn the boost up.:face-icon-small-coo

Yeah i have never really thought about alpine. there stage 2 kit is appealing to me. I like the MCX180 kit but i don't think 180 would quite be enough but unsure havent rode one. I was thinking somewhere around 220-240 is the hp range im lookin for.

it's putty simple the more power the better just my 2cents

Took my impulse Nytro up last night with 2871, headshim and 14lbs pump gas. Thing rips hard and spools up great!

Ulmer 210hp kit is the best kit out there right now. Cast header/downpipe are far better than the tubular ones from everyone else. Guaranteed to crack! Call Allen his knowledge/service is awesome.

Pump gas at what elevation or what range of elevations?

Here is what we offer at Ulmer Racing.

"180" turbo kit:
-stock motor
-stock fuel pump
-Garrett GT2554R turbo
-5 lbs boost pump gas @ low elevation
-10 psi boost pump gas @ 8,000 foot and above (10 psi is max)

"210" turbo kit:
-stock motor
-stock fuel pump
-Garrett GT2854R turbo
-5 lbs boost pump gas & low elevation
-10 psi boost pump gas @ 8,000 foot and above (13 psi max)

"240" turbo kit:
-thicker head gasket
-aftermarket fuel pump & regulator
-Garrett GT2860RS turbo
-10 lbs boost pump gas @ low elevation
-13 lbs boost pump gas @ 8,000 foot and above (18 psi max)

The Impulse header is made from 321 stainless steel and is 3/16 thick. Are you aware of how beefy that is? Thats 4,7 mm in metric standards, I have never heard of them cracking. Impulse also has a good working support system that holds the weight of the turbo. Nothing wrong with Ulmers manifolds but there are othersout there with good manifolds also....

Im curious as to your reasoning as to why cast is better than tubular, just because of the cracking issue? If built properly with thick wall tubing like Impulse is using the manifold wont crack and will be able to support the weight of the turbo. As for the downpipe all it has to do is give a path for the exhaust to exit and support its own weight, no need for a heavy *** cast piece. Tubular pieces are far superior to cast pieces in everyway.

Heavy *** cast piece? Hmmm.

Cast Ductile Iron down pipe = 1 lbs 14.4 oz

Cast Ductile Iron Turbo Manifold = 3 lbs 7.7 oz

Cast ductile iron is actually far superior in strength to weight ratio of steel. The steel pieces will have to be far thicker/heavier to equal the strength.

I've got the MCX 240 kit and love it. Lot's of power and will wheely all day long. Turn the key and go. Very reliable. Pump gas and go.

I think a better question would be how much you want to spend and do you see yourself wanting more later down the road?. To be honest if you could spend the money why even waste time with a "low" boost kit when you could get a better kit, run lower boost and pump fuel? I can see if you were on a budget going with a cheaper kit. Like I stated before I have a Impulse stand alone, 2871 turbo, bigger injectors, surge tank, big alum fuel tank etc I can push 15lbs on pump fuel or dump some race fuel and go stupid fast. Even though I dont have a million miles on our sleds I have to say the headers are holding up fine and we been airing out our IQR/Nytro 100 plus feet no problems...

Initially I went away from kits that use a headshim (to keep my bottom end)...but honestly after being on boost I dont think the little difference on the bottom is enough to matter. What I do know though, is that 6lbs of boost wouldn't cut it for me. 10lbs of boost is enough to climb 90% of what I want...and 15lbs of boost...well it makes me happy in my pants just thinking about it.

You can't go wrong with a pumpgas kit that will push over 10lbs of boost. After riding mine, I can't see the need for a low boost kit unless it is 1/2 the price of a bigger boost setup. All you need to do on a bigger kit is learn how to adjust your boost for what you want to do with it.
