Peters Creek Valley ride

I rode Peters Creek today, putting just shy of 20 miles on. First of all, the trail sucks. The first miles is decent because its wide enough to spread the traffic out. From about mile 1 to mile 5 the trail is basically single wide with a 16 inch mogul track down the middle and nowhere to get off it. After mile 5 the trail almost opens up and there are an occasional field or area to get some snow. Once you get onto the creek watch for dropped ice. The trail is broken off at about mile 8 where the creek seperated it. You can cross just south of there and get onto the other side. From there it looks like a trail headed up the valley, but I went up onto the mountain and then turned around and headed back. Snow was ok the farther up the valley you went. Still a bit of brush and sticks. Overall not very good, but it was nice to ride a little bit and the country is nice up there.

Did you take off from the Little Peters Creek trailhead? I didn't know that they had that area open.

Not Little Peters Creek, that one is closed. Peters Creek Valley is still open and the trailhead is off Malcom Drive in Peters Creek.
