In a sense, yes. A GPS can not notify emergency services you need help though. If you have a GPS and you are stranded and it's ON they may be able to locate you, but it might be too late.

You can't load maps but when you set a "track" it will show up on Goggle Earth. You can sign into your account and see where you have been and where you are. If you wife or whom ever is at home and wants to see where you are they can log in and check your location.

A GPS YOU can see where you are, the SPOT people who can save you can see where you are.

Correct....no screen. You can go home and see where you were but not while in the field.
