Pemberton or bust! No snow roadtrip. PICS

Well the local riding this year has been terrible and we were going to hit Reve right after the BIS but the big slide put an end to that one. So we watched the weather and attempted to hit Pemberton for three days of pow and sunshine, right after a storm. Well we lucked out, the sun broke the day we were traveling and stayed out for the next three days.

We didn't have a guide for the first day but Ray from http://www.totallyawesomeadventures.com/ was helpful in pointing us in the right direction for a riding area as he was booked up. We actually ran into Ray and his group out there, see newtrouts video, and he was surprised we found our way into the honeyhole we did. What a day, big wide open country and I would say 1.5' deep.

Because of the paralympics in Whistler the hotels, I think there's a couple in Pemberton, were outrageously priced, one place was $400+ per night. We lucked out by finding a B&B http://www.whistlerwine.com/bb_pemberton.htm that was very reasonable and it slept 6 of us with ease and the proprietor was there every morning cooking away.

Day two was spectacular. We rode the "Permberton Ice Cap" google or wiki that to learn more, aka Rutherford. This is where they have the Big Dawg shootout but no matter how much you think you know or understand how big it is you can't until you see it. Our guides for day two and day three were Summitseeker here on SW and his buddy 2tall (I don't know his username but that one fits or INSNTAB... I Never Say No To A Beer). Actually never took that many pics, too busy riding around in awe and then had sled issues later in the day. Never thought you could go wfo for 6 miles across a glacier turn the corner go up or down a ridge and do it again and again and again.....

The guides.

This is about 90 degrees from the above picture, all I did was turn and shoot.

Looking directly back 20km to the spot where we had lunch.

Everyone carried about 5 gallons of extra fuel and we were rationing it like we were on a deserted island, 100 miles or 160km for the day.

Day three and back to the hurley area, where we rode the first day. Lots of different areas off of the main trail and we managed to get back into an almost untracked spot. Lots of slide activity out there so we played it safe and stayed off of the really steep stuff, still lots of fun.

Nice Blair!!! I'm jealous as hell. Turbo XP?? Looks like it runs good. Snow here totally sucked this year. I'm thinking about a slushy trail ride tomorrow just to get out one more time.

awesome crew and awesome conditions

thanks to blair, brenden, craig, dad, jim, rod, wade.

epic 3 days in pemberton rod and wade were great guides.

if you ever get the opportunity to venture that way you will not be sorry.

this area rivals anything found in revy, sicomous, golden.

thanks to kanucklhead for taking great pics

Glad you found it and had an awesome time. I''ll be there the next few weeks a time or 2. Love this time of year there.:face-icon-small-coo

Glad Matt (Griz here on SW) and I could show you our backyard! Thanks to Thistledoo for fixing my chaincase leak on Friday night and letting me use your oil to get out! I always love the look on peoples faces when I take them around the first corner on the cap! LOL

There is so much snow back there, Whistler-helisledders Avion trailer that sits on top of a truck container is totally buried.

Hopefully you guys make the drive again next year but this time make it to the pub with us!! We had fun! Couple of great days of riding! :face-icon-small-coo:face-icon-small-hap

Oh......thanks Blair for sending me the pics! Nice work on the camera!

Hmmmmm.....Blair, did you tell him that the turbo XP broke down at Callaghan and we had to tow it from Ryan Lake to the trail head at "ruddedford" (Rutherford)?!?! :face-icon-small-win That is a long ways behind a turbo Yami!
