I don't have the vents you are talking about. I have installed Holz vents on two 2011 Pro's and nothing on the 2013 Pro. I have hours and hours of helmet, hood, and chest cam video showing the sled completely covering the vents while plowing under the snow, and not under the snow. Either way, the sleds always run around 125 degrees. Save your money. Vents are waste of time and money. I believe Polaris has a pretty good handle on this. :face-icon-small-hap

I think the vents are a good idea to allow clutch heat to exit. It shouldn't have much effect on engine temps, but on the clutch temps and perhaps even belt life would be a bit longer than without venting. I'm planning on installing some venting on my '11 Assault...

All true. But it is already vented. But even with that, what good does it do if the the vents are covered with snow when the nose is under the snow while pushing a heavy load. That's when the sled (clutch) is working the hardest. Anyway I did ride the 11 assault. Awesome sled!!!:face-icon-small-coo Have fun!
Good luck on your purchase snowman80!!

I have a flow rite in front of my primary on my iq, after a hard wide open 30 min burn, just below freezing outside temp. Opened my side panel and my belt and clutches were only warm. Checked my dads f8 and his wernt pull you hand away hot but were fore sure way hotter,

I've been thinkin and drinkin (mostly drinkin) and came to the conclusion that maybe I'll just do the footwell vents to keep snow out for now. A big thank you goes out to powerfuldodge for the pics. The vents don't quite look as good as their adds (they do look good though). Thanks to everyone else who has commented and gave me something to think about. I defineatley understand what pro-8250 is talking about. I haven't really thought of the vents being covered and not doing anything before, makes sense now. I do think vents are a good thing for the most part but if you're in neck deep snow they won't do much. Too many decisions to be made when a guy buys something new. I do have confidence in the new sled though. What a blast this sled is. I had an '11 assault before and there is a huge difference. I haven't seen many issues with the QD come through the shop so I think it's going to be a great sled. Happy sledding everybody!
