Lots of questions so here goes.
The carbon fiber cover helps in a few ways, it will reach optimum rpm faster every time you squeze the throttle. You can feel the difference as soon as you put it on. Will you need to add weight? I have some say they have and some say they have not, I have seen a gain on my race sled of around 2-300 rpm. But I have not personally tested it on a rmk. The cover we have seen acts like a dampner to some effect, as the parts do not wear out as fast. We have done a endurance test with Polaris for 100 hours of straight running, and found that the roller bushings, and weight bushings, and cover bushing where all like new after the test. The stock cover bushings last they say around 50-70 hours. We are still working with Polaris with the effects of how the inertia savings helps the motor as well as the clutch . This cover will fit any P 85 clutch built since 1984 so you can change out the cover with each sled you own!! Balancing is not required but it is up to you, we balance your clutch for free with our new carbon fiber cover. Do I recommend it yes, would I be afraid to just bolt it on? No. I don't see a huge change, but it will stay with in factory tolerances. That can run from 50-70 lbs of force out of balance at 8000 rpm.
The big weight savings are in the carbon fiber tunnel covers. Carbon fiber does not conduct cold, so your snow and ice build up will be much less and can add up to 30-60 lbs or more.
Our carbon fiber throttle lever has a outside layer of carbon/Kevlar so it can not break. It was designed and tried for the snow cross racers. I have many using them last year. Plastic does break.
If you have more questions let me know I will try and answer them best I can.
Thanks. TJ
