Parts still available for Honda Big Red 250 trike?

Guy I work with has a running big red he wants gone today. It's mechanically okay, but can a guy still buy most parts for these things?

he wants 100 bucks.... Ima prolly grab it no matter what.

Most parts are still available, I just did a bunch of work to couple of those. They were a very popular machine and there is still alot of them around so parts availability should be good for a while.

I ended up getting it for 90 bucks. It runs, but the magic button doesn't work, and it needs a timing chain, or a tensioner, and some brakes. If I wanted to get real picky, it'd need fenders, too, but that's a minor detail....

I rode one from when I was 7 until, well, I rolled it off and into the bottom of a canyon, then straitened the bars out, and sold it for 3X what I payed, 50 bucks! The guys still rides it, drags trees with the awesome low range, but doesn't hardly put it in hi because at any kind of speed, you hit a pot hole and your just along for the ride! Mine was about 45 mph off into the trees........sideways!!!!!! Good old 3 wheeler!

I'm having a wierd issue. This thing is really pretty clean. The key has been bypassed, and it runs, but now there are NO indicator lights, adn the electric start does not work. Everything is there, and the main 20 amp fuse is intact. I can't jumper the starter even....

Any thoughts on where to start?

I'm thinking this thing could start out as an inexpensive acreage bike, and turn into a full fledged, really expensive resto....

Well first off i would not run it without a good battery, you don't want to kill the charging system (costly). The indicator lights may just have blown( because of a bad battery). You can get a total top end rebuild from G&H Discount Atv Supply for 250 or so on ebay. Quite a few parts are available from honda but most of the body parts are not, there are aftermarket body parts or used parts on ebay. You can get the manuals for the electrics and shop on a cd for about 10bucks shipped to your door on ebay.

Thanks! I really have no idea on the history of this thing. For all I know, it may have been run for the last 5 years without a battery. I wish I was more skilled on ebay, but I have NO experience with it.

why the hell would you wanna ride a three wheeler? so it runs you over when you fall off?

They only kick you off if you don't know how to ride them, rode a 200x for years, then jumped on a 250ex and didn't really like it! The only real scary ones are the 250r's with the CR 500 motors in them, thats too much motor for a quad, let alone a 3 wheeler!!!!!
