Anyone try to paint there cylinders? I just got two new ones that are alum finish while the rest of my motor is black?? JUst wont look as clean is all, or has neone tried to polish them up? They look similar to polaris cylinders if my description wasnt good

We always do something to our cylinders. If you are going to paint them make sure that they are very clean. the paint comes off or won't stick if there is any kind of oil. Even oil fron your hands. The best way i have found to clean them is get some grease andwax remover form a local auto paint store and put it in a spray bottle. Then spray the cylinder or case and wipe off ith a clean rag. Polishing is by far the sweetest looking. I also think that it is the easiest to keep clean.:D

Battle Scars

Thats what my boys call unpainted clys. :p Ya as above you must clean them very well, wear latex gloves as the oil from your hands will not let paint stick. Dino

what kind of paint is everyone using? BBQ paint? I tried using sum high heat motor paint on my pipes a couple years ago, within 15mins down the trail it was peeling!

Pipes and cyls are two different critters...cyls wont get much hotter than 200* except for by the exhaust port....I have had very good luck using automotive base coat/clear coat systems on all types of two stroke cylinders...prep is everything...a good primer is always a must...shoot a couple coats of color on, then hammer on some clear...

I painted my "Quadzilla" wheeler motor about 6 years ago has worked great.

I use Sherwin Williams "Sunfire" paint. It baked on when the motor got warm. Not a chip on it.

Powder coating works well and doesn't seem to pose any problems.
you can pollish them up with 0000 steel wool and have them clear coated
or you can go with a color of your choice.

You can paint just about anything...

I used PJ1 Fast Black wrinkle finish on my Ultra 800 cylinders. Put them in the oven after painting for 30 mins to cure and they worked out great. Keith.
