Packing extra shovel

i wanna pack an extra shovel because i hate taking off the backpack to get at it...Not looking into the powderkeg as an opition...Wonder if a way a guy can mount/attach it to the aluminum gas rack.If anyone has a setup that works would u care to post a pic of it,Thanks

I don't know why you couldn't use an aluminum C channel to hold the blade on and bungy the handle down to the tunnel. Use some of that black material Powderkeg already uses to protect the tunnel under the handle.

We made a setup like that on my buddy's dragon, just a shovel mount. I'd get you some pictures but it's in Eastern Wyoming about 9 hours away.

Here is a picture of how I had my snobunje and shovel mounted on my Dragon. I took my tunnel rack and got a couple sets of extra hood holddowns and attached them to the tunnel rack with a couple little brackets I bent. Made it real easy and quick to get to. The one thing I didn't like was that it kept a lot of snow on top of the tunnel.

One more nice feature of the mountain addiction bag setup - you can put a shovel on the top (has elastic straps sewed in), and handle on the side (has handle loops), for an extra shovel. It doesn't get easier. FYI.

sled solutions has a bag that can accomodate a shovel. couple of buddys have them and like them. i just use my backpack, doesn't bother me.

It's really nice to have the blade available when it's hard packed so I can throw snow on the slides.

depends if you have an avy bag with the aluminum clips. I found it a massive pain taking the bag off and on specially once it got a bit iced up. My personal opinion depending on the conditions would have my avy bag as an emergency bag with a probe shovel and over night stuff and leave it on at all times and anything i needed through out the day like snacks, water, clothing, and second shovel would be kept on my sled. Nothing like watching a guy go up a hill and it breaks and you avy bags open on your sled while your eating some beef jerky and drinking a water from it. Goes for a shovel too, if you helping dig a guy out i would rather just take the shovel off the tunnel instead of taking my bag off and possibly get caught in a slide with my bag off. Seems like crazy precautions but you never know.
