P85 ES vs Standard

I've heard conflicting info on clutches without the electric start ring not fitting where an ES clutch was before.

aside from having to remove some shims from the secondary, can i put a non electric start primary where an ES was before?

I have a badly cracked sheave on an electric start touring sled and a backup non ES from another 600 iq. I'd like to eventually put another electric start clutch on but for now can i just swap the two primaries?

If anything the opposite would be the case. The ES clutch has the ring on it and is slightly bigger around because of that. The non-ES will go on just fine assuming they are both off of the same engine model (600 for example).

I'd check the offset, but I'm betting you won't even have to change that.

Thanks guys,

unfortunately i have to double check everything my mechanic says at work. he's been to the polaris and arctic cat mechanic schools and really talks a convincing line of BS. He's also been the cause of several mechanical failures and since been removed from his position. he still likes to hand out free advice that is worth about the same that it costs.

his clutch advice has been wrong on all accounts. poor spring/weight selection, no abrasion of the sheaves, not a fan of the wide rollers and can't put a standard p85 where an e-start was. I won't even start in on the 5th motor mount nut he has a special tool for that no one is allowed to see.

Works fine no issues. Punch that mechanic in the face
