I am excited to see how Propane DI develops on the 2 stroke mountain sled engines, that would be awesome. Would get rid of exactly what you are talking about, less air space occupied by fuel, the evaporation would cool the charge in the cylinder, no converter/coolant lines so the system should be lighter/cleaner plumbing. I believe getting a solid stream of liquid to injectors on a vehicle that has to be capable of operating upside down is one of the big hurdles, as well as it would probably have to have it's own computer which would also be costly. Pretty sure I would be first in line (behind all the other guys who are probably already in line) for a kit like that! It's actually more due to the LP vapor occupying space which could/would otherwise be air. Lowers the VE of the engine by exactly the denominator of your air/fuel ration.
yeah, not a ton over pump fuel, but locally, propane is $2.35 avgas is like $4.50 and 110 at the pump is $9.50.. obviously 110 can be had for cheaper, but propane is SO CHEAP! and it smells so good when it burns. It's around $7k. You'll save the extra in fuel VERY quickly if you ride a lot though.
Yes that is correct for $. As far as the buddy tank goes I don't have a price for it yet. Then of course there is the install labor cost for the kit. In case I didn't mention it before we are also a dealer for OVS turbos. Maybe a little far away for some but of course right next door to Alaska and Northern B.C. cheers.
dang tootin the propane is the way to go...i saw vp race fuel at 105 bucks for a 5 gal pail at Polaris in whitehorse today...yikes...!!
