Just thought I'd post a few pictures of our new propane turbo from OVS up here at Listers Motor Sports, Whitehorse Yukon.

A big thanks to Travis at OVS for all his help.

Had it out in the past week running 12lbs boost at 2500 to 7000 ft. :face-icon-small-coo

Hell yah Kenny

That looks super sweet. I will be back up there by the 28th of this month and ready to ride with you and the Ghost Rider Crew. How does it compare to your old boosted sled? Al do your painting on the hood? Undercover 2011:face-icon-small-coo

Hey Buddy it goes as well as the old race gas sled , but a whole lot cheaper. Can't complain about $1.02 per liter for propane. Yeah Al did the paint for me and a painted winshield is still to come. Thanks for the kind words. See you around the 28th.

How much does that propane kit cost

there is no fuel control box right, no adjustments needed,

That's correct no control box just set the idle and then full throttle adjustment on the mixer like a carb and your done. runs very clean. cheers:face-icon-small-coo:face-icon-small-coo

KSR, so you felt like psi to psi it was similar in power to other turbos?

The only one I've ridden with seemed a couple psi low on power, but it didn't matter since you could just keep turning it up way past the gasser.

The thing had good afr & ran awesome, it just seemed a TOUCH low on power. (like I said though... it didn't matter, I'm just wondering if that setup had more power that we weren't seeing)

Just seeing how easily he went from 1000 feet to 12,000 feet made that setup worthwhile... that was pretty cool!

I definitely need more time on it and hopefully this coming weekend we will run both sleds side by side at the same boost levels. I am currently setting up a hose and 20# tank to drop on the way to get me home if necessary. Also the 100# back at the truck if I need another full tank. So far so good. Will post results after this coming weekend.

2011 OVS propane

I have a 2011 propane kit on my 2011 sno pro
I am currently running dalton adjustable 73g weights running an insert, totaling 75g weight in the primary
12lbs boost at 6000-8000ft in western Canada, geared up to a 57 tooth
the sled works very well!
If there was one thing that I was not the happiest with is the laggy bottom end, it certainly is not as responsive as the gas turbo setup i also own, the pump/race gas setup I have is very responsive, but the top end certainly doesnt pull like the smelly cat.
i currently engage around the 4200 mark, looking at raising the engaement to clutch out the lag
Hopefully the pipe that the OVS boys are working on will clean it up.
Overall Im pretty happy, one full 100lb propane bottle transferring into the sled (bottle upside down) will fill the sled twice.
Mileage....rode bottomless powder for 20 miles wide open! and 40miles of trails to get up there and back, total of 60miles and still could see propane in the sight glasses.

I thought the pipe was already available, according to travis it is supposed to really help the bottom end.

Yes the pipe is available. I have it on mine. It must help the bottom end because I don't find it laggy at all

Mine comes in at about 4800 ish and has no lag in the bottom end the way I have my weights now. I believe OVS new pipe will give it a bunch of extra bottom end and maybe let you run a bit lower engagement. At 4200 I can imagine it bogging on takeoff with the stock pipe, this thing really comes alive at 5!

just as far as propane goes, it is gonna not make the same power per # of boost due to slightly less engery per volume.. althought most dont care as you can turn it up a few more # and your still ahead and cheaper then race gas.

from playing with propane in the 4 stroke world, its just all of our clutching, gearing, and whole turbo systems are designed based off what we know on gas motors, while the propane is gonna have a different power curve, so if your setup for something with more midrange power, your weights/clutching are gonna excentuate your lack of lower end power. different weight loading, toe vs heal would most likely affect said setup.

im pretty stoked thought, seems like the 2 strokes seem to like the stuff. I will be excited to see how that pans out over the whole season once some miles get piled up on these things as thats my biggest concern.

It's actually more due to the LP vapor occupying space which could/would otherwise be air. Lowers the VE of the engine by exactly the denominator of your air/fuel ration.

laggybottom end

Boosted1. I don't find a laggy bottom at all. I am running DDturbo mags at 78grams no magnetss near the pin and engagement is 4200. One thing I do so far is roll on the throttle but not too slowly and I don't experience any lag' Was out for a little ride on the lake testing clucthing and idle mix all good and I turned it up to 16# at 2500 feet. Brought a big smile to my face. Hitting the hills tomarrow and will post results later.
