Just went through my first belt yesterday on my 09 M8. Just short of 1700 miles. I ride hard as my riding partners will tell you. Wondering what other people have gotten for miles on a belt. My next best one was 1100 miles on a 05 M7. Whats your best belt life?

Just took the original belt off my 07' M8 w/ 950 miles on it nice even wear no threads pulling still in great shape just wanted to put a new one on before my last trip. It is now my spare belt bet it has another 500 miles in it easy I just noticed the belt to sheave clearance on the primary had opened up a little as it was wearing causing a little clunk on engagement.

I got about 180 miles from one once!!

Got 1200 miles on my M8, that's the best I've done. I wish my 1000 got 1/3 that.

I will be excited to get more than 300 on my new M8. My 1000 liked to eat belts... to the point where it looked like I ran over an alley cat at 200 mph under the hood!

You aren't going to believe it but just blew my origional belt on my 06 M7 last trip, 3200 miles. I ride hard but break them in right. I think the only reason the belt took a crap was because I tried some clutching that didn't work out well at all, second ride out since I changed it back.

I almost got to the 1000 mile mark on my stock belt . Almost 900 miles of that was at 12 lbs . But the belt was broke in the right way , and the clutches were cleaned a few times through out the year .

I know what you mean. I'm not sure why some people's sleds seem to eat belts like crazy, but I know that my clutches are aligned and I never have any problems. Proper clutch maintenance really isn't that complicated...

My original belt lasted around 1100miles. The replacement just popped about a month ago at ~5400miles. That includes multiple mountain trips, and a whole lot of time at full throttle. I'm sitting at just over 6000miles right now on the 3rd belt this sled has seen.

Wow 3200 miles is outstanding. I should have said before that I break em in right and keep my clutches aligned and both cleaned every 300 miles or so. Plus I never try to get them to hot. At $80 a belt it is not hard to do a little maintenance every third or fourth ride.

On average I hear people getting 1100 to 1300 miles on M7\8 belts.

1,200 mi on my 5th belt, alignment is right on but the secondary is an rkt and everyone had me run it to loose so the belt was slipping but reverse was working. now with the right tension the belt is running alot cooler but nomore reverse so I will see how many miles i can get out of this belt. My original belt pulled a string on the outside at about 100 mi. with stock clutches.

Here's a pic of my first belt at 300 mi. notice its inside out! That is how i found it. i was going slow, part throttle up a hill setting up for a good little climb and my sled just stopped.

???? Your tortional setting should not effect whether or not it will work in reverse or not.....something isn't right if this is the case...???

If you run the torsional setup tight it will open the sheaves before they twist to engage the dogs. when the torsion rate is low the sheaves will twist and engage the dogs before they open. ive tried it and watched what happens tight works better forward and loose lets the dogs engage but the belt slips on the hills and high speed trail racing= 250 mi. max out of a belt. ouch!

2008 M1000 and running on my second belt in 1429 miles. I keep reading on here how people have belts blowing on M1000, Clutching and alignment are the two main problems i believe other M1000's are having.
