Outside of wells nevada?

I live in Nampa Idaho, and went to Vegas last weekend. We drove thru Wells Nevada and damn, it looks like they have awsome riding south west of them. Does anyone ride there and what is the area called? Any feedback would be appreciated.

The mountains you were looking at are the Humboldt Mountains, they are an extension of the Ruby Mountains which run South and West of the Humboldts. Unfortunately the Feds took 99% of the Ruby's and Humboldts away from us some time ago in the name of wilderness. For the most part the only decent sledding in Elko County is Wilderness. Lamoille Canyon near Elko in the Ruby's is open to sledding and looks very similar to the Humboldts in topography but unfortunately has minimal legal acreage to ride. It becomes quite a cluster at times, but sure is fun technical riding. Here's a few pics taken in the last few weeks in the Ruby's.

Wilderness area

The mountains to the southwest of Wells do look awesome. I've been by there many times but alas about 99% of what you see is all wilderness.

You have to go to Elko which is 50 miles west of Wells, then to Lamoille which is approx. 25 miles SE of Elko. A mile or so before you reach Lamoille you turn up Lamoille Canyon and drive to the snowline and unload. We usually have access to the snow until June. The best part is no dirt/mud roads, we have asphalt to the snowline. Most people that ride the Ruby's come back time and time again.
