OT: What brand/make of tools are you using?

I actually like some of mac's diognostic testers better then snap-ons....but overall snap -on is the best by far..and yeah IR air tools rule...

Sometimes. I've found that the old red brick is by far the most accurate one of all when compared to the big three. Unfortunately, it doesn't service newer stuff plus these days, you need a minimum of 3 diagnostic tools to verify which one is lying to you so you don't spend 2 days tracing a problem that doesn't exist. Unreal world.

To be honest, proprietary scan-tools is by far the best. you just have to choose which one you need the most. Matco and Mac's scan tools are just OTC's.

Snap-On....

Everything else is 10th place, with the exception of one tool. Even Matco and Mac don't hold a candle to Snap-On.

Air Guns...then IR, but it's the only tool that Snap-On doesn't make as well.

Try getting a Matco or Mac tool warrantied in the middle of nowhere. Snap-On is everywhere.

Mac does build a nice tool box.

Next question

I agree, Snap-On makes one hell of a nice tool. Even there air tools are up there. But try finding a dealer here in the boise Treasure valley area. They come and go like fly's. Last two years we have had 7-8 on our route. They hire nothing but chodes.. Matco is where its at these days for tools I believe.

snap-on, matco, mac are all great and the only way to go if you work daily with your tools and make your living with them but for the home owner craftsman are hard to beat and will get the job done just as well at less then 1/2 the cost

Hello and Happy 4th of July, all.

for their sleds.

Oooops! :face-icon-small-sho

Wrong forums.... :face-icon-small-blu

During the early part of spring my friends and I were out ice fishing when the weather was fairly warm (about 28 degrees fahrenheit) out.
We were going pretty much wide open on the trail leading towards home facing away from the wind and my engine suffered a meltdown. :frown:

It's been sitting in the shop waiting to be broken down, but I haven't gotten around to it just yet. Been too busy with work lately.

I have a full set of Wright combo wrenches and a rail of chrome sockets in my sled. Had I had the parts - I could have rebuilt your motor on the lake out of my sled if needed. (May have had to guess at some trq specs, but .... )

Next question

I have a cpl Mac and a cpl Snap-On boxes. Most were bought used and they doo not all have the same history, but the two Macs are nice shape, and the two Snap-Ons are junk.

(25 yr old comment) Snap-On impact guns were nothing to write home about. Macs were (are?) much better.

the tools that you will use all the time spend the coin and get snapon and craftsman. but for a travel box to travel with buy the cheap stuff incase somebody thinks they need it worse that you your not out your good tools.

That way when your out in the bush, on the road, or where-ever else AWAY FROM HOME you have tools that you can count on to fail?

for work I have mostly snap-on but for home I have craftsman, westward, mastercraft, and some of those disposable princess auto tools ..... I find the tools you use every day are worth the extra money but the ones for around the house its perfectly adequate to have cheaper ones (most of the time) but a good compromise is to get the better cheaper stuff like craftsman professional series, mastercraft maximum, westward, jet, or gray rather than buy snap-on, mac or proto all the time ....... but thats just my 2 cents

im a heavy equipment feild tec and i'm hard on my tools brake bolts free with my 1" drive rachet and my 5000 pound crane but i only buy snap on nothing compares next time someone says there bargan tool are as good take a 3\8 bolt in a vise put the open end of a bargan wrench and turn and slip off try it with a snap on and twist the fawker off you get what you pay for with tools, toys , ect.. with engine rebuild percision tools snap on for shure

just my opinon
