I need to find a shovel that will fit in a backpack with everything telescoped down.

The shovel I have now, just does not get small enough to fit in a backpack.....

Tell me aobut this grizzly, can you measure it in its smallest configuration?

I have the deploy 3, great shovel. I did have some buyers remorse though - I heard BD is not a sled friendly company. Any truth to that?

Ya, I personally think there is truth to that. We have asked them about it several times and they always say they support snowmobiling when we talk to them. Unfortunately, their actions speak louder than words. They sponsor a lot of the wilderness orgs & other orgs that want to shut down riding areas.
