I have the original head that came on the 09 dragons. I want to put it on my 09 dragon that is updated. will I need the pc5 or is it not worth putting on. my sleds runs great but I am sure I can get it to run better

Dynotech did dyno tests on alot of different combinations on the 2010 update, including useing the 09 head. I don't remember what the result was, but do remember that a pcv was a huge improvement. I know that he still has all of the dyno results still on his website.
I do know that the 09 head was a higher compresion head and the 10 head was a lower compression head with a better combustion chamber design.

it might help using the old head at higher elevation because of the increase in compression, but i dont think it would be worth it below 6-8k feet. Thats my opinion anyways.

From what I know and this info came from a very knowledgable dealer here, the 2009 head is much better than the 2009. Combustion chamber design didn't change to my knowledge. Although if anyone has pics of the 2009 head that would be great.

The problem is getting your hands on a 2009 head. In order for the dealer to get credit ($$$) for the update, they HAD to send in the old head to Polaris.

I don't see how the newer head would be better then the older head. they dropped the compression and the way they cut it out does not make sense to me. I bought the head just waiting for it to show up. I will get pics when it shows up

Now i might be wrong and will correted if i'am but the 2010 update head is like 11.5.1 compression and the original head was like 13.5.1 now i have also been told by putting the orginal head on helps throttle response and more power on higher elevation. Now remember this is what i have been told.

Just looked at Dynotech's results when they tested the updates. The 09 head made 2 less hp, but had a very broad range compared to the 10 head. The 10 head made 2 more horse but was very peaky. All the tests were made in 50 deg. air.
I heard about the difference in combustion chambers first from Buckys, then from a another reliable source.
The 09 head by seat of the pants would feel stronger due to its broader power band, were as the 10 head you would either be on or off.
