Wife has found one and she wants it bad. This would be my first General Motors vehicle, so I am cautious. I actually like the thing, I just dont know much about them. Good? Bad? What are your opinions? Hurry! I need the advice because she wants to pull the trigger, and I dont know how much longer I can fend her off!

We bought a new GMC Acadia in March and it has been a very good vehicle for us. No complaints outside of the recalls, which have been two so far. Nothing serious and the work is taken care of immediatly. What is the difference between the Envoy and the Acadia?

The Acadia is a cross-over, this is GMC's version of a Trailblazer. They dont make either one of these anymore, they only make Acadias and Equinox, I think. This is a used one, 45,000k and I think we can get it for $17,000, plus they are giving us $4,000 for the 03 Grand Am. What are the thoughts? Am I getting a good deal? Or am I getting eff'd? I dont know, its the first one we looked at.

My sister has a 2002 Envoy that she is rough on - but it has held up good. Some annoying wiring problems with the tail lights but covered by GM as far as I know. She has over 150k on it and it is still going strong, no plans to get rid of it.

We have an Acadia that we bought new a year ago and have had ABSOLUTELY ZERO issues with. Have not been back to the dealer since we drove it off the lot (20k miles).

Go to kbb.com and nada.com to look up info on used vehicle prices to see if you are in the ballpark, also check craigslist in your area to see what they are going for online.

I knew our Acadia was a crossover. So the Envoy is on a SUV frame I assume. You say they don't make it anymore, does that come into play for you? You say you can get it for 17,000, is this with trade or before?

Is definately a buyers market now, so be patient.

My experience with trading in vehicles is the reputable dealers will want high book for theirs, and will give you trade in value on yours. I always go by NADA, as experience with Kelly Blue book is it's better for the dealer...lower trade in value and higher retail.

But, I would not buy any gov't product! I read an article in the paper recently that GM had to submit a salary approval (to the gov't) for soemthing like their top 10 execs.

Good luck though!

Well, I think we just bought it. The 17,000 is without the trade so we will have to come up with 13,000. I actually think we got a good deal on it, and everyone likes them that has them so far. So here we are, plunging in!

Thanks Goldenwest, thats what I needed to hear. This stuff makes me nervy. Im off to sign the papers, thanks for all the help.

The Envoy is a GMC badge Chevy Trailblazer. The design has been out for a while hence the better pricing.
The Acadia is a GMC replacement. Up to 09, Chevrolet didn't have that model. We now have the Traverse which is a little bigger.

The GMC Envoy is a nice SUV. It's roomy, had good ride quality, pulls and tows well etc. They are a little heavy and can be a little hard on fuel if you push them. My buddy bought one for his wife to drive and she loves it.

The wife drives an 02 Trailblazer with the 4.2 I6, its got about 170,000 kms on it and it runs great. We have never had a problem with it. If you want some good info go to trailvoy.com. The I6 is one of the best engines chevy has ever used. Great power for its size, large oil capacity and pretty good on fuel mileage. The I6 is a bulletproof engine.

Sorry fellas, little slow on this one. The deal is done, and I feel we did allright. It is not the I6, its a V6, I guess GM did away with that motor for that year, not sure why. As for pictures, I will have to get my wife slowed down long enough to get a good picture, right now they would be too blurry cause she hasnt stopped driving it. Thanks for all the advice, you all should be salesman...or were you working for them the whole time? Hmmmmm.;)
