? On spots to live

I'm looking at about the same, except I'm looking at working in Englewood. I live in Alaska right now, and housing is insane in the greater Denver area, and I thought Anchorage was bad. As with you, I'm almost unable to rent having 3 vehicles, 2 sleds, and a motorcycle. This might be the crippling force on taking the position. Did you end up making the move?

News last night said Denver housing prices is fueling a housing boom in northern Colorado Springs......but no way I will do that commute again

What's the better commute location? I really don't want to spend $1200 a month for a flat in Englewood, that's fairly insane imo

Not yet flew out looked at a bunch of houses have two separate job offers just above 70K year but like you said the housing out there is ridiculous!! I don't want to be single and sled/house poor. What the hell is with Denver area and the garage situation!!?? So many houses with no garage!! Tiny house, tiny lot way too damn expensive. I guess were spoiled here in Minneapolis, I literally have twice the house, twice the lot, twice the garage for 50k-100k less than what I looked at out there and I'm in a nice suburb.
Think I'm going to wait another year and really keep track of how much time and money I spend riding this winter and compare to what I'd really save living there. I see less of my friends as we get older/start families but still should factor leaving a 15-20 yr friendship base behind

Hahaha I'm from Wisconsin and it's the same story for me, except I want to stay on my career path and don't have much of a choice. Today is my last day at work, got laid off cause of the sluggish oil industry at the moment due to oil prices. I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a job and just happened to land an interview at my current company's HQ in Denver. I'll see how I like it on Oct 30th when I roll into the mile high city.

depending on your budget, lakewood and highlands ranch are options. At 630am it's about a 15-20 minute commute to downtown, depending on where downtown. Just a straight shot down hwy 6 for the most part. but there is never ending construction on 6 too. traffic around downtown is awful and gets worse daily. ridiculous number of people living down there. I work down around the tech center but live north of denver. it's nice on the weekends if we head up to laramie but anytime you go i70 on the weekends be prepared for new levels of anger. I am hoping tahoe gets a ton of snow this year too so not everyone in the country comes this way for their winter vacations.

broomfield/westminster is also pretty easy to downtown if you are close to hwy 36. I can make it from downtown to broomfield in about 20-25 minutes at 4pm. There are a lot of options, but unless you live downtown, traffic will just be something to adjust to. I go in to work before 6 just so I only have to deal with traffic once a day.

I'll second Broomfield/Westminster. I work in Lakewood though so my commute is straight down Wadsworth for about 20 minutes. GF works in the Highlands so she does Wads > 70 > Federal and takes about the same 20-30 mins.

Rail station opening Fall 16 in Westminster! With that I might consider a downtown job. I really liked Arvada but it was a little more money.

You aren't gonna buy any home in Denver on your salary unless you wanna live in green ghetto ranch or montghetto. My buddy bought a town house for 160k last year and they already appraised it at 220k. His neighbor also just sold theirs for around 220k. The cost of living out here is INSANE! I'm glad I bought my house when I did. When I was searching, the houses I looked at would have an avg of 12 bids the first day on the market!! If you have a wife that makes close to the same as you then yes, you will find something but unless you want to spend a majority of your income on housing, I'd think elsewhere.. 4 car garage? I hope you have a trust fund you can dig into. Lol. One of the local news channels is going to run a story on the insanity of housing costs here, try to find it, they are supposed to have info on how to help find a place.
