omg ..holz spindle my review

im just not sure how someone could ever go back to riding there sled with-out these..ive read a few posts were peeps said there was a little diffrence but not a huge amount..well then check ur angles ect because the sled is night and day especailly at low speeds but at high speeds too..
best upgrade hands down rides like a completely diffrent sled and all day riding today and im still feeling fresh not my ussaul tired and worn..
i would recommend all to get them if u dont already have them on. .i do have the newer ones so go with them i still cant believe the diffrence in the ride , it unreal..
the sled is a little more tippy but not anything i didnt get use to in a couple hours and man i can shred the corners now.. took about 1 hour to install once i got the bolt configuartion figured out so easy bolt-on install for beginers..
:) great customer service too i was missing the nut/bolt set and they shipped it FREE ..NOT TOO MANY COMPANIES OUT THERE AND WOULD DO THIS.. so thanx again holz u did me right

Nice revue. If you switch them and put on powder pros at the same time it's not much different...lol but I wondered about how they would be if you kept same skis. The timbersled front I just put on set the skis even further forward. From the looks of it I bet the sled will want to turn itself.

ya i was planning on putting new ski's too but on a budget and after this ride i will keep the stock ones on i really loved the ride as is and just cant see how much better it could get or i would need..like i said im not tired or worn and thats what i was looking for..very very please with my choice to get'em ,,riding tommorrow too :)

I kept the standard skis on my 06 SB and they worked great; the Holz spindle change was it for me. For note, Team Polaro followed the Holz geometry by 08 and these later Polaro spindles work as well.

Holtz or 2010

I have the Holtz on the big 9 / 166 with Grippers. Full Ryde FX shocks.

Pay attention to the front shock load also, works great.

I took off the sway bar 120 springs on the front, 225 Front skid, fat boy 2 up
hair pins on the back I believe they are 4.05s

I have 2010 D8 spindles on my 2006 685 / 159 with Grippers works great.
Went to Fox Zero Pros on it, got ride of the Fox Floats.

sway bar off ? I like Holz as well i am testing CO-BE billet spindles and they may be better yet ! I believe you are correct about proper set up I am willing to bet most just bolt on and do not perform the alignment properly achiving minimal gains. when the camber/caster angles and ski alignment is correct it really makes a big differnce. holz i think tend to make the 900 "toe in" and push a bit without adjustments . is that what you found ?

ya thats about right..kinda like having POWER STEARING NOW ..but like u said it makes a huge diffrence with the little adjustments .mine r still a little toe in since i was in a hurry to get it on the trails. i notice im floating abit at the high speeds im riding since i think im riding about 30% faster with the new spindles so im gonna mess around with the angles abit more till i get it the way i like it..not sure how much better they can get cause im happier than a pig rollin in **** ..
rode all day again today and im not sore unreal i ussually need a day to re-coop with the old spindles and thats the truth..

i had to add a spacer under the top heim joint on the COBE spindles for the same reason the spinndle is not tall enough and when you add the spacer it swings the upper arm further out along the arc and corrects the spindle angle. .25" thick I believe. or most of it can be corrected by letting the rod end out dangerously far but it works .

I'll be testing the Timbersled ones as soon as I can get up to your are Kreg. They set the skis even further forward more than the Holz so it will be interesting to see what difference they make. They have a picture of some trick billet ones on their site now that look a lot like the co-be's be they don't have them listed for sale anywhere yet.

I updated to 09 spindles. Should the skiis be set to the factory spec or something dfferent. I stayed with the sidehiller skiis.

I would certainly think so. I believe the ski is moved forward with holz /09 poo spindles to create more "Trail" for better steering . the alignment relative to each other and the ground should definetly be the same . seems logical to me anyway

My spindles are in, now have to put them on. How are you guy's checkin the camber??? It says to use alignment bar but what are you guys using, since I don't have a alignment bar and where are you measuring off of?

A stick of 1/2" copper pipe will fit perfect into the hole in the spindle. I tried a piece of 1/2" wood round stock, but the wood is never perfectly straight and a slight bow will give you a bad measurement.

the manual recommends a 5/8" steel rod about 45" long...i use this when i do my alignments, did it today as well, never fails...and always dead on...
