Old EXT problem; Bad bogging issue.

Hey folks, I'm hoping somebody can help me shed some light on a problem I am having. I have an 1994 EXT EFI that I still use to ride the trails. Sled runs really well, especially given its age. However, yesterday, it started doing something it had never done before. If I pin the throttle wide open from a dead stop (sled idling) , it bogs and falls on its face really badly. Like so badly that I could pin it from a dead stop, and it will gurgle and sputter for 5 seconds or more before it starts to build rpms. Here's the strange thing: If I feather the throttle a bit, or even just blip it enough to bump the rpms up a little, then I can pin it and it will pull like a raped ape. It only happens if I pin it at idle. Doesn't happen while moving down the trail. Tried changing plugs and it has new gas. I was thinking maybe something is wrong in the primary and it's trying to roll the sled before the rpms build, but the engagement rpm seems to be normal? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Anyone?

Also, I was thinking I'd take the belt off and see if that changes anything. Can I safely run the engine with no belt on as long as I don't get too crazy with the rpms?
