ok u arctic cat guys

my riding buddy rides a 2004 m1 900 it has some plastic on the bumper........ he says he wont pull me out with the snowbunges because he thinks it will hurt or tear out his bumper.............i never heard of that ............what do you guys think?

I have seen my buddies King Cat bumper break off just by coming up on his tail out of a gravel pit :( I wouldn't put a lot of faith in it holding up

I have 2003 1M 900 and have used the back bumper LOTS to pull with the Bungie. I replaced the torx screws that hold the bumper to the side of the tunnel with good 1/4 bolts so that I could get them nice and tight and use a choke strap around the center piece. I've used Lil Kitty as an anchor point with the Bungie and a rope rachet and believe it or not, I even pulled a XP out of Blue Lake a couple of weeks ago, driveshaft....go figure. Been doing this a couple years now and don't see any signs of damage yet.

My front bumper is sold as a rock.... many trees have met thier match because of it! I think the rear bumper is even more solid than the front. He's just being a weenie.... but it is his sled. So, you break you buy.

I have pulled out quite a few sleds with my cats-01 mt cat 800, 04 king cat, 06 M-7, 07 M1000, and 07, M8. I have never hurt the rear bumper of these sleds doing that, so I would think he'd be fine pulling on the snobunje. The only time I've hurt these bumpers is from hard akward landings.

all the guides at togwotee with m8's pull off their back bumper with the bungee, and i havent seen one fail personally. that being said i am not sure i trust it to that much stress, but i do like using the hand held ones to pull myself out of a hole.

Personally, I would rather have the VE or new BDX rear bumper. I think all that plastic that comes stock is a waste along with part of the tunnel and running boards. I have never had to replace any of the stock bumpers on my cats......kinda wish I would, that would easier justify one of the others!!

I was worried about ripping that plastic junk off too so I replaced it with a sturdy rev bumper. This is on an 04 900. I had to fab up one piece of aluminum to cover the rear heat exchanger, but the rest was easy.

not a fan of the "snowbunjie" myself. i think having someone pull the ski just as you are getting ready to take off is better than laying there in the snow with the thing stretched out. not giving the sled a pull up and out just a pull.

I am going on a "ride in" camping trip with my son before he goes to Iraq and need to tow in a sled with supplies. Will the bumper on my King cat hold up? does someone make a tow hitch?
Thanks!

Cat makes hitches for all their machines.
If your KK has a normal metal wrap around bumper, you can get a cheap hitch that bolts to the bumper (universal style) from DennisKirk, Hi perf, or someone for about $20. I have one on my RMK, works good.
On the M7, the plastic bumper won't hold up to a trailer. I bought a hitch kit from Cat (about $100) that is vey well made. It's like a mini receiver hitch that bolts up to the tunnel, includes xtra tunnel braces, good quality. I've been towing a Snowcoach for the kids, prolly 300# total, on skis with no problems w/ either type of hitch.

Well I am going against the flow here...both our sons run 900 1M A.C. Both rear bumpers left the program there first year, wouldnt hold up to any abuse at all. One broke off just trying to get unstuck, lifting the back of the sled up. Bolts stayed but the plastic would pull right off. Dino

My father has a 2003 Mountain Cat 800. He has pulled out numerous people with a snobujie. He also has a hitch and has pulled a trail sled with gear a few times. He has no damage what so ever to his bumper. I wouldn't worry to much about it.

Tell him if it breaks it's a perfect chance to modify...
