Just got done rebuilding the top end of my 04 king after I cold seized it. Ran great for half an hour and then this happened. EGT's were reading about 1150 degrees and I did premix the gas in the tank.

You have too much timing.. Ifyou have an offset key installed.. take itout or put it in backwards

didn't even think of that. I'll have to talk to the previous owner to see if he put one in.

(just noticed that I spelled 'hear' wrong...)

I had an old zr580 that would blow holes right through the pistons. Found a chunk of rubber in my fuel pump, (after a few pistons and buying a fuel presure gauge). Would drop to 0 psi on a wide open pull and boom. No fuel = holes in top.
 
EGT's will drop while detonation is occuring. How old is the gas, was it from your usual source?
