Ok, it's not really mine, it's my wife's but I still need to learn how best to deal with it.

I bought this one, 09 m8 HCR cutler race gas turbo with BOV

283 miles, very clean, uncracked bulkhead, runs smooth as butter.

SOO...

I'm looking for some guidelines, how many pounds of boost/ gallons 112ish fuel, what kind of maintenence do I need to do other than the obvious, how long can we run it without thinking about temps, seems to get REAAAALY freaking hot.

SO far I'm planning on running it at 8psi with 2 gal race fuel.

Another question, how often are you guys running against the det sensor? If I keep bumping it up till I hit it, how damaging will that be in the long run?

I ride at 10,500 -13k most days, and the lowest altitude this sled will likely ever see is 9k. (once a year)

What weights would you guess to run, it's set up for way lower than us right now, so not sure how much to bump it up.

Have turbo folks been happy with the cutler adjustables? I liked them on my 1000, but not sure what the profile would be like for a turbo?

Thanks for any help guys!

I run a turbo 8. I ran 13psi most of the year with that I use straight race gas. Get an 02 sensor if you don't have one get it reading 12.5 - 12.7 at full pull and you will be fine. I did try it richer around 12 and it still runs clean but it loves it at 12.5. It seams the m8 has a nice big sweet spot. Be aware of reeds and spark plugs and rubbing lines. I ran it all season with these numbers and things in mind and no problems. Good luck they are fun. Next year you will want more power that the only problem.

I'll never run straight race in this thing, I can't waste that much money. It's got an A/F guage, runs 12.5-13 on a big pull.

The main thing I'm looking for is what ratio of race gas I need for different levels of boost & how big a deal it is to turn it up till it sets off the det sensor.

Keep in mind, this is the wife's sled, so I'm not going to be on it much, this is the main reason I want to find some safe guidelines for her.

If you set off the det sensor you won't really hurt anything but I wouldn't use that as a measuring tool for figuring out what is safe. Remember it may start to det on you when charge temps get high on a long pull. Probably not when you want the det sensor to go off and the sled to bog.

I always try to run better fuel than i need . We always ride deep in the tree's at slow speeds . And i have a bad habbit of droping down into stuff that i should not. It is kind of a nice feeling to know you can always just open the hood and turn the knob .

I always run 50/50 Sunoco and 91 at 10 lbs , and straight Sunoco at 12 + . Pure 91 at 7lbs . But i like to be safe , i always want more . A TM1000 will be the primary sled next year.:beer;

So far with just a splash of race or even a race gas concentrate will let you run an easy 8lbs at that altitude.

I agree with Dano I run more octane than needed most of the time. I know some will bash away but I have ran 100LL allot this season low boost clear up to 12lbs on my Dragon that has a tighter head than the M8 without any problems at all. $3.20 a gallon most of the winter and easy to get and runs crystal clear. Also longer pulls will build high charge temps and things get hot.

I wouldn't be bashing 3.20 a gal!! I know 100 isn't quite race gas, but hey, you can afford to run it straight & it does the job. I actually go by an airport somewhat regularly, I could get 100ll pretty easily.

Thanks for the tips guys, I talked to Cutler, but just wanted to get a feel for how conservative they were being, I figured it was pretty strongly on the safe side, that's good. The guys at Cutler are GREAT, I didn't buy the sled from them, but they're very willing to help on the phone, good people.

So it sounds like with the 2-3 gal we're running, at 11k & above we should be able to get about 9ish pretty safe then, Seems like if I set it to 8.5 & get some creep on big climbs we should be pretty safe.

We'll see how she does, fun sled but it needs more boost to be "impressive" so far it feels like a lightly modded M1000.

00buck, it's Abby's sled, not mine. Its would take too much race fuel for this thing to be as much fun as my sled is!!! Next time you come out we'll toss in some extra octane just so you can say you got beat by a girl.:D
