ok conservatives... now what??

I think you are making quite a stretch. There are many, many, more regular moderate whatever democrats than there are enviro nuts in the democratic party. Just they don't seem to get the same coverage as the nuts do.

i think you are right there... MOST democrats are not whackos... however, the ones controlling the party and setting the agenda ARE, and that's the point he's making... look at obama, his voting record is THE MOST LIBERAL IN THE SENATE... he preaches change yet he is nothing more than a boiler plate democrat that refuses to cross party lines to get anything done... how is that any kind of change?? if that is change you can believe in, well guess what, GWB was change from the clinton/gore years, and clinton was ~change~ from GHWB/Quayle years, and GHWB was change from Reagan, and so on... when you support the party's candidates (i'll exclude local politics from this) in state/federal elections you are supporting the radical wing of the democratic party... the moderates LOST in the democratic party, plain and simple... and the radicals in the republican party also lost... the republican party is much more centrist/populist now than the democratic party is, which gives mccain a bit of an edge in the general election this fall...

So I am guilty by association? So if an enviro nut drinks root beer, does that make you an enviro-nut too? That is if you drink root beer. That analogy is a stretch, but you should see the point I am trying to make.

Oh, and I don't really consider myself a democrat. More independent I guess, I vote where I feel best based upon the issues that concern me the most. Never been a team player I guess.

You're dead on.

Everyone on this forums assumes you are one way or the other. To the others:

No I do not see a need to "build up our military". Maintain yes, build larger no.

About the military creating jobs for everyone. The majority of the money that is made from war (now) is to the highly educated. There are no longer factory workers getting lots of jobs. The system is so automated that engineers are getting these high paying jobs. It is no longer a blue collar job. It has turned purely white collar.

Go see if someone with little education can get a job with Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, RAYTHEON, Rockwell, and GE. I'll put money that 98% of their jobs all require a college degree, if not a Masters plus experience. How many PHD's are they hiring for?

I do agree that we need to protect ourselves against Terrorism. I think that is a combination of defense and foreign policy. Part of the reason we are hated is because of our desire to force Democracy on other countries. I say leave them alone. Just take care of #1, worry about ourselves. Work out agreements, but use our foreign trade as leverage. You don't want the U.S. in the Middle East (so we can secure oil, which we need to operate our military), well we will pull all trade, we will also use our leverage with other countries in parts supplying.

We should use our military when attacked or to prevent and obvious attack. 9/11= invade Afghanistan, yes. Invade Iraq= No

1991 Iraq War= Justified
Current Iraq War= Not justified.

I know I have some Liberal beliefs, but I am truly and Independent.

I'm all for voting for who aligns with your issues, I think that says alot about a person.:) I cannot overlook which party has consistently voted against, or stopped votes from even coming to the floor, on issues that are important to me. A party that is being easily suade by the likes of George Sorros. i.e. loony left.

the UAW used that argument back in the 70's when automation was really taking off in car assembly... it was a false argument that never did cut the mustard... sorry man, when was the last time you saw a white collar guy building a 5ton truck or an abramms tank or whatever... sure white collar guys are designing them, but they have always been that way... imho you are hearing what you wanna hear on this one bro...

these conversatiosn rarely yield altered opinions but here is some fodor for thought

fact: terrorism is a real threat

conclusion: Deal with it on your terms or their terms...

Fact: Terrorists will stop at NOTHING to disrupt YOUR way of life, and do NOT want you to have the freedom to have your "beer and babes" threads...and dialogs like this...

Conclusion: bury your head or understand the real enemy, I choose to understand the real enemy (isnt it ironic we are more incensed about the Mormon Polygamy thing than the "mercy" killings and rape/incest/molestation/mutilation that is conducted int eh name of Allah?

Fact: Military build up now is more imperative than ever!!!!

Conclusion: The military of today is NOT the military of Reagan, and technology (read BIG money, from software engineers, and regular folk) is mroe important than ever!!! The spending and applications are going to get bigger, try having one terrorist hacker cripple the financial markets for three days and lose 10 Trillion in market value/confidence etc. and it will make the run on the banks of the 20's and 30's look like an ATM withdrawal...

either way you are gonna get screwed no matter who you vote for plain and simple. You do have to understand that this is a democracy and not a monarchy, the president is NOT the deciding factor on many issues that are being discussed in this thread. Fuel prices are up because of the lack of refineries. The lack of refineries is due to the liberal enviro whack jobs that keep us from building more.

I get a kick out of these threads..carry on

My god your such a stupid liberal idiot! Do you understand those you worship want your sled and guns to be banned forever? No I guess not, I think you are truly that stupid, based on your posts.

What makes this country great is the ability to believe in what we want because we have rights protected under our constitution. Name calling because someone elses opinion differs from your own is flat out ridiculous. Kind of like the pot calling the kettle black. I have noticed that if you don't go with the norm on this site, some people tend to get their panties in a bunch. Had to get that off my chest, nothing wrong with a good debate.......it would be rather boring if everyones views were the same.
