ok conservatives... now what??

former Rep Bob Barr (R) is now going to run as a libertarian (scheduled to be announced on Monday)... an ultra-right wing conservative... how much evangelical vote is he gonna take from McCain???

will this assure Obama a cake walk of a run to the white house??

Just a reminder, 390 days ago the libs swore they would do something about gas prices.....Nice work! Vote democrate!

My god your such a stupid liberal idiot! Do you understand those you worship want your sled and guns to be banned forever? No I guess not, I think you are truly that stupid, based on your posts.

Your post says wonders.

Believe it or not right now there are more important issues than sledding. I am not afraid of losing my sleds, even to a Liberal President. I really do not think gun control will be an issue in this election. The Democrats got their a$.ses handed to them in 2000, because of gun control. They learned that people do not care about it.

Bush and company (who I voted for twice) have spent over $1 TRILLION on the war in Iraq. Our country is not in great shape, although it is not as bad as many make it out to be.

Fuel prices are at an all time high, this is extremely important for me. I drive over 3,000 miles per month.

You call me "stupid" but I am open to voting for who I think is the best candidate, not just voting based on the party I am registered with.

Again, guns and sleds are not the most important thing right now. Important? Yes. Most important? no.

Yeah, sure the war has been pricey, but its not as bad as you think. It has only cost a small percentage of our fed. budget. Last I heard it was something like 4-5% and it is a lower percentage then regan had, which I believe was something like 20% if I remember correctly. thats not making us go broke in any means.

You liberal buddies are the ones not approving refineries and keep up from producing more of our own fuel.

Dude, I think you are confused in your word usage. You are not describing democrats, maybe the words you were looking for was extreme liberal enviro-nuts? They are not the same. At least compared to every single democrat that I have ever met in my entire life! Which is a large number by the way, at least greater than 5.:D

I regular budget (non-war), we use 19% of our total budget on military. This does NOT include the war budget which has it's own budget.

I was all about the Afghanistan War, but Iraq is/was a waste.

2008:

President Bush's defense budget request of $481.4 billion -- an 11 percent boost over last year -- pushes U.S. defense spending to levels not seen since the Reagan-era buildup of the 1980s.

In addition, the president is seeking a projected $141.7 billion in emergency supplemental funding for 2008 for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and for broader anti-terrorism efforts -- bringing the total spent in those arenas since 2001 to $661 billion, eclipsing in real terms the cost of the Vietnam War.
Pentagon officials noted that the 2008 supplemental request does not include additional funding for Bush's plan to send 21,500 more troops to Iraq. The most recent 2007 supplemental request of $93 billion includes $5.6 billion to add five Army brigades and 4,000 Marines to the force in Iraq.

Would you explain to me how we can continue to cut taxes, and spend this kind of money?

i think reagan proved that even if you cut taxes that revenue growth is produced because of higher consumption rates, which in turn spurs the economy... cutting marginal tax rates has been proven several times over the past 30yrs to help the economy and boost revenue... the problem is not whether or not tax cuts work/help... the problem is out of control spending... and its a problem from BOTH sides of the aisle... its not a bush thing, its not a pelosi thing, its a government thing...

Bob Barr won't even garner 1% of the vote which is not enough to sway this election one way or the other (at this point anyway).

Does he even have enough names on a petition to be put on the ballot in all 50 states? I doubt it since I haven't heard his name mentioned in like 5 years.

Bottom line is that this guy is nothing for McCain to worry about.

A lot of things have changed since Reagan has been in office. There was bi-polar powers in the world back then, that is not the case now.

A long time ago building up your military provided jobs for everyone, now it just provides jobs for the extremely educated and already wealthy.

The military buildup is also no longer needed.

Nope, most of the people I know here in Wash are republicans at least I think they are. My experience has come from Michigan and FIB land.

For me the above unfortunately explains a lot of why I lean significantly Democratic these days (I'm registered independent). It is still possible to find moderate Democrats. It's been a long time since I've met a moderate Republican. Maybe I just hang with the wrong crowds.

i disagree, with the rise in anti-us terrorism the need for military is still there... and lets face it, lately we've been using our military for a lot of humanitarian causes as well... building up the military does give job to everyone... how many factory workers and how many soldiers are employed by the military and its suppliers?? do you really think it is only the super educated and old-money rich folks that are employed by govt contractors and the military? if so youre a little off base on that...

First of all GoDeep, never tell a liberal they're right. They're not. Read this.

We no longer need to build up our military? Have you ever thought about blogging with the women of code pink? They'd welcome you with open arms. As for you Ruffy, if you consider yourself a democrat, you are voting with the enviro nuts and furthering their agendas. Until moderate democrats either wake up and switch parties or take control of their highjacked party, which I don't think is possible at this point, then things will only get worse.

So I am guilty by association? So if an enviro nut drinks root beer, does that make you an enviro-nut too? That is if you drink root beer. That analogy is a stretch, but you should see the point I am trying to make.

I think you are making quite a stretch. There are many, many, more regular moderate whatever democrats than there are enviro nuts in the democratic party. Just they don't seem to get the same coverage as the nuts do.

Oh, and I don't really consider myself a democrat. More independent I guess, I vote where I feel best based upon the issues that concern me the most. Never been a team player I guess.
