Leaky SOB as everyone knows. I've heard you can buy an oil cap for a polaris that has the vent in it to replace the stocker. 03-04 edge chassis i believe is the one.
Any truth to such rumors?

yep, that is the part number, I went and got one a month ago.

cat cap for oil tank
Arctic # 0670-871
race sled cap vented

I believe the AC and polaris sleds use the same cap actually. If I roll my sled over in the garage with this cap, I may just get a drop of two, not a river like the old skidoo cap.

I also went and got the aluminum insert from the guy on dootalk.

inserts are $15 each ( shipping included ) to anywhere in NORTH AMERICA

please add 5% ($.75 per part) to the total if using PAYPAL
the PAYPAL address is DAN_03REV@YAHOO.COM./ Mention you need the aluminum one and your sled make/model.

What does the aluminum Insert do? got a picture?

I'd imagine the oil cap pays for itself with all the oil saved from not leaking it all out. Looks like i gotta go to the dealer and pick up a couple of them.

The neck on the tank gets distorted if you over tighten the cap, the insert from the guy on dootalk will make the neck round again, no matter what cap you put on the tank it will leak if you over tighten it and distort the neck.

Sometimes the threaded neck on the tank will crack in the threaded area. Crack opens up a little when the cap is screwed down and all but disappears when the cap is off. Must look closely with the cap off to see if it is cracked.

If cracked, 3M has a product that seems to work very well. Drypowder knows the part number.

Anybody got a good place online to order from? I could go down to the local Stealership and pick them up but figure I could find a much better deal online.
