Oil Pump Operation Questions

1. If you run the sled without hooking the oil pump linkage to the throttle actuator, does the pump revert to full oiling, or idle oiling? I know Poos revert to full oiling, but looking at the pump on cats it looks like it just sticks at idle oiling.

2. What does the oil pump pump oil to? I know it has two hoses that go to the intake boots, but doesnt it also lube the crank somewhere? Does it also lube the oil pump shaft bearing in the crankcase?

3. If I disconnect the oil pump linkage from the throttle linkage, keep the oil reservior full, and premix my gas 50:1, would this create a problem or would this be fine to run all the time?

Now for the story......

I had to do some work on my machine which involved removing the throttle bodies and the oil pump linkage. Whenever I do this, I pull the linkage up and tuck it behind one of the oil pump lines so its easier to grab when I need to reinstall.

Finished working on my sled at 2:30am for a ride the next day, was going to not go on the ride, but the wife work me up and told me to go, so I had to!

Sled had a pretty baaad low end baahhg all day, I thought maybe something was wrong with my reeds or something.

40 miles into the ride, despite the bog, i'm relaxing, shredding way better than any pro out there and it occurs to me, I never hooked my oil pump linkage back up!? How on earth is this machine still running?

I stop to hook the linkage back up and notice that the linkage is still tucked back in behind one of the oil lines and I have used a LOT of oil, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!

As i'm putting the linkage back on the t-body throttle linkage I screw up and pull the linkage off the oil pump as well. Its getting late, its cold and we're headed back anyway so I just siphon some oil from the oil tank and premix (more like postmix) the 4 gallons of fuel I have left, no ratio right so I put about 16oz in which is about 32:1 (all rought measurements)

I fire my sled up an instantly my bog is gone and my machine has better throttle response than any turbo I have ever ridden, SWEET!

Now, i'm excited to keep my sled running this way, just interested in options. I know how to make this thing premix, but thats not what i'm after, just wanting to gain some knowledge to understand what was going on with my machine and if it would be worth putting a new oil pump on, or if I get stuck in the backcountry with that crappy bog again, can I just pop the linkage off and premix my fuel?
