Oil pump elimination

Is there a kit made for eliminating the oil pump on the liberty motors or can I simply just plug the oil ports and remove the pump. Any buddy ever done this before, if so, what advice can you give me? What do you pre-mix at. Thanks

I forget who makes the kit . but it comes with a cover for the oilpump hole and plug kit for the lines . i pre mix at 40-1 on all my stuff that ran pre mix you should in thery be able to go 50-1 but i figure on the safe side of things.

Oil pump removal

Just remove the pump and use the block-off plate and gasket that the race engine uses. No need to plug the fittings in the case - they are check valves.

The block-off plate from the current race engine will fit the CFI 600/700/800 and the plate from the older race 440 (2005 and earlier?) will fit the carb small blocks. For an older 700 or 800, you might have to make a plate.

I've read that some machining needs to be done in order for the crank bearings to get adequate lubrication. Any truth to this, or has anyone had personal experience with eliminating the oil pump? Thanks

The cases have to be drilled on the pto side to properly lubricate the bearings. There is a spot in the casting already there just is not drilled, it also has to be drilled at the correct angle to get to the outer bearing.

X2, has to be done.

There is a post floating around here somewhere on how to do it yourself. I chickened out and had a machine shop drill the oil port on my 800. I ran 32 to 1 but everyone has thier own opinion about mix ratios.

I just put caps over the inlets and lest the spot open where the oil pump is. that way you can look in there if you over heat and see if the belt is broken or not

what sled do you have? I know the 800's need drilled for sure. may not need drilled on the 00 800 but that I don't know for sure

The case mod isn't noting to lose sleep over. You can use a small ball burr and just grind a canal for the oil to get to the outer bearing. I hooked up hoses from both bearings tee'd them in the middle and ran the hose up top with a small cap so that I can still inject oil with a syringe after everyride.

That's funny you mention that... just the other day I was at a guys house buying a part and he was finishing up uninstalling this setup from his machine. He wanted to run an oil pump instead. Was this machine yours at one time?
