Oil pump arm alignment?

The bottom end went out on my 07 Dragon so I bought an 08 700 motor and installed it but as it was on the bench i noticed an arrow mark on the oil pump arm and assumed it was supposed to be lined up w/ the horizontal line on the fitting so i adjusted them to line up together. Is this how it should be?

Thanks

Per the polaris shop manual, it could have one of two styles of arm on it. If it has a pointer on the round portion of the arm it needs to line up with the one on the oil pump body. There is a thread on SW that has the shop manual for that motor. It explains how to distinquish between the two arms and how to adjust the pump. If I knew how to download it on here for you I would, but I don't play with computers much. Sorry.

Search "shop manual" on here. I comes up on the third thread.

My early release 08 D8 had both an arrow point and the hash. I was told that early release sleds were set up to run one and later release the other. i can't remember which was which. I believe I lined up the 2 hash marks and went through oil like a mad man. Then I found out about the early/late release 08 thing and did the arrow point to hash and that was right "I Think". Better have a dealer run the numbers on your 08 and see. I think worst case you would just be oil richif you guessed wrong. Good luck. EW

Super Dave 3 or MountainHorse would know they helped with mine.

Under the "INCREASING YOUR IQ THREAD" pinned at the top, check out my "TECH TIPS FOR 600/700/800 CFI"

There's a pic of the oil pump posted there.

On my 2007 D7 with the marks lined up I was at 37:1 ratio, from the factory.

I loosened up the 10mm jam nuts 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns and now it's 57:1 for the last 1200 + miles

So the adjustment is somewhat sensitive, meaning a little over ONE FULL TURN changed the ratio by 20 points!

Hope this helps.
