Oil leak

I have 2 new pro 800's. Both are leaking oil - fuel from the y-pipe to pipe connection. Seen a thread somewhere that this is common, but just verifing that this is the case. Seems kind of hoaky as I have had several new sleds and this has never been the case. Can see the doughnut and they look to be in correct.

Me and the old man both have the same sitting in the bottom of the engine compartment on both new Pros. Pisses me off a little!

I also had this same issue with my 2011 PRO. Im thinking Im going to pull the pipe and use some hitemp rtv around gasket.

I'd rather have the oil, unlike a couple other sleds recently. If it bugs you, a $3.50 tube of high temp silicone will fix it right up.

It does kind of bother me. Just do not see why it is. Like I said I have had several new sleds and this has never happened. Just wanted to know if it was normal. Believe me if it does not seal itself I will do what polaris should have.

Never have owned a brand new sled, but I have replaced a bunch of worn out donuts in my life. They almost all leaked for a couple hours worth of run time, once they wore in they sealed up.

It is from the extra oil in the fuel from the dealer. The connection will slobber until the exhaust doughnut gets hot enough to seal. Clean it out by spraying in brake clean on the belly pan and engine. The crap will run right out the bottom.

I have owned 8 brand new sleds, and never had any pipe leak before my pro. I have 500 miles on mine and it has leaked from day one, and is even worse now. I dont have an issue with using some RTV to seal it, but it shouldnt have leaked from new. If that is the only issue I have with this pro then I will be a happy man.

Exactly. These are my 7th and 8th new sleds since 98 and I have never had this happen before. They all have had oil in the tank for the first ride without this mess. There is no reason for this other than a spec off a little. I did not spend $25000.00 for a $3.00 fix polaris should not need. Don't get me wrong I am going to love this sled, I just do not like the needless fixes. I cannot get away with it in my business why should they.

mess

Mine was doing the same thing I took it apart and made sure the notches on the back side of the doughnut lined up with the 2 notches on the y pipe. Now it doe not leak.

At set up time the dealers run the Sleds.
usually two to four times to get some heat soaks, Checking Oiler set to full oil
and they sit at idle running FULL OIL. Plus oil in the fuel tank.
IT will take a ride or two to burn out all the excess.
or you can take you pipe off pour the oil out.
And I check the tourque of all my y pipe bolts, they will tighten up almost eveytime you check them.Every couple of rides.
if you lossen your pipe set,Put high temp rtv around the inside and out side
of the doughnuts, reinstall and then put a line of the rtv along the springs
which helps them form vibrating back and forth.
good luck

Ok, folks have answered your question, your still not happy . . . Have you talked to your dealer? I'm sure you can't get away with shoddy work in your business, but what would you want, folks bringing you the problem so you could address it, or your customer running down your name and saying your competition is better than you?
My sleds did the same thing for about two or three rides then it quit. (2 '11 Pros). My IQ did the same thing but didn't quit, had to take it apart and use high temp rtv, problem solved. My Edge never did it. My Everest never stopped leaking, my Buddies never did.
If I had thought Poo should have fixed it, I would have taken it up with the dealer warranty rep. I didn't, I just fixed it.
I hope you get some resolution without any further frustration on your part.

Could be worse, if this is all you have to complain about for product issues, consider yourself lucky. You could own one of the M8seizures or a Beluga M1100. Now there is some dissapointed people.

THIS.

Come on peeps - that exhaust donut needs to get hot enough to expand and seal up. THIS HAPPENS ON ALL SLEDS with very little break-in time. Does it on my Summit and every sled I've owned that use the expanding gaskets. The mess was a lil more noticable with the Pro but this isn't rocket science to figure out! The far bigger problem is oil leaking from the vent holes in the poorly designed oil cap; keep the rubber side down!

Have FUN!
