Oil in belly pan

So last week I went out and started my 13 Pro. As I was pull starting it, it made some kind of pop noise from the exhaust. It started as normal though. The only thing I did notice is that there was alot more smoke coming from the exhaust and from under the hood. I went to work on it yesterday and first noticed that my trailer was soaked in oil under the belly pan. I opened the side panels and saw the whole pan full of oil. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Thanks

Is the oil clean or exhaust black? I had one of the oil lines that lube the crank bearings come off my oil pump last year and I had oil in the belly pan from that.

Good question on the oil

If it is black then it coming from the motor.

The pop was just the engine but sometimes that blow the donut out.

Also sometime they just leak there from all the oil that has built up from sitting over the summer until it can clean out..

A common source for the oily mess in the belly pan is from the drain tube that comes from the exhaust power valve control solenoid. Eric

The oil is clean. The bad thing is just after I ran it, I filled up the oil res. I cant get a good look as to where it is leaking from. As long as the engine doesnt have a hole in it, Im good. Ill have to take it to the dealer this week if I cant see whats up with it. It is under full warranty so if anything is major, I should be good.

My 12 had the main oil line fitting fall out of the oil pump, needed a whole new motor. You might be able to see more from the right side of the sled by pulling the can. Otherwise you have to pull a lot of stuff out of the way to see the oil pump.

Here is a pic of our 2011. The oil leaks out of the doughnut between the Y-pipe and the exhaust pipe. This happened to our two 2011's and our 2013. Try some Permatex Ultra Copper on this joint/connection.

Im just hoping its a simple fix like the gasket or something. I would really hate to start riding and have it blow up on me. Just for future reference, if the sled has been sitting for awhile, what is the best way to "prime" the pistons?

If you did not fog the cylinders in the spring you could just spray some in now let is sit for 5 minutes and slowly pull the engine over to lubricate the cylinders and rings.

had this happen to my 13 today it smoked a lot until it warmed up to 100 degrees. ran just fine i dont see this being too much of a problem and i asked the dealer and he wasnt too worried about it either. better to have too much oil than too little.

Attempted to start my brand new 14 pro today. It started for about 30sec, then died. There's a large amount of black oil in the belly pan, and lots of clear oil coming out with the exhaust. Guessing maybe the oil injection is turned up too much. It won't start at all now so can't even try to burn the excess oil out. Even tried new plugs. Guess I'll call the dealer tomorrow.

My new 14 pro is leaking black oil out the pipe, to Y-pipe also, took it apart today and put hight temp sealer under the graffiti and over it. And reinstalled pipe. Hope it worked

When I pulled my pipe this late summer the Y pipe had a similar amount of oil on a 13 with Silber Turbo. The engine got a new top end in April so beyond that it was just idiling or high idiling in the garage on Sat night's. Beyond the pool of oil my Ski-doo's never fogged the garage like this sled in the summer. On a still summer night bringing that sled up to temp would make my 1 car garage look like it was on fire to my neighbors in the city here. To my knowledge it isn't the mapping with the turbo as it doesn't add fuel at idle??? At least I know it's getting plenty of fuel and oil on an 80 Degree night :)

I took it into the dealer so I cant look at it now. I wish I would have pulled the exhaust to see how much oil was in there. I didnt want to mess with it too much and have Polaris say that due to me pulling it apart caused the damage.

I started a thread on this about a week or so ago, I talked to many people and my dealer. My 14 was leaking excessively also. The donut needs to seal itself while riding with heat and vibration. I was also told by dealer that the factory adds oil to the tank and that most dealers add oil in the tank when they put a little gas in to start them up, causing it to run super rich and seep before it has sealed.

Talked to my dealer today also. He said the same thing. They put oil in the tank incase the person who bought it forgets to add oil to the first tank. The exhaust should seal once ran to temp. As for it not wanting to run its likely too rich with oil. I'll have to fill the tank with gas and go from there.
