Oil hits $$ 50

yeah, no kidding, with driving the truck to the sno park, injector oil, and sled fuel up, a day of riding now is like $45 for me instead of like $75 when i was calculating this summer!!

$1.73 for petro here in, MN

OPEC is planning a big cut in oil production. I think it will stall the price falling, but it won't get much lower then $44 dollars a barrel.

The crappy economy helps this as well. I hope it falls to nothing because come next Memorial Day we will all be biotching again. Feels good to only pay $50 to fill up the truck again.

Don't let OPEC scare you. Their production is already lower then they can afford to have it. OPEC is no different then any other big business these days. Greed made then call us out. They bet that Americans were to stupid and lazy to reduce oil consumption and invent alternative fuel sources. They were wrong. Unfortunately it looks like we took down our auto manufacturing industry in the process. It's OK, corporate greed and union stupidity had that ship sinking anyway. We just sped up the process a few years.

The big question now is how much will OPEC need to bail them out?

It's kind of a boring subject since we have been from the lows to the highs and back to the lows all in our lifetimes now. Remember it did beat the inflation adjusted numbers of the early 80's etc so now it's kind of a snoozer in a way.

OPEC will cut production again in the December meeting so it will stablize I'd would think between 50 and 75 a barrel.

Oil had nothing to do with the big 3 going down. Unions did.
Saudi Arabia warned OPEC this last summer to cut the price down to around 60 a barrel or risk losing the market.
Reason: America would simply change the way they power the country.
When the price of oil started to fall and OPEC wanted to cut production to keep oil at 120 or higher a barrel Saudi Arabia pulled out of OPEC and warned them Saudi Arabia would INCREASE production to make up any difference till such time as oil got to the 60 dollar a barrel mark.

As for Obama, he has already stated in the past that he thought the price of gas would have to be 5 dollars a gallon or higher to force americans to be more enviromentally friendly and conserve. He has stated he would stop any and all off shore drilling, any drilling in sensative areas (defined I am guessing by his handlers in the enviro-nazi movement) as well as oppose any new drilling he could. You will see oil rebound under Obama, but don't worry, he will tax the oil companies out of buisness along the way.

this is all fine and dandy for people who don't make their living off the patch, guess I'm gonna have to do the canadian thing and build an igloo to live in eh?

If it gets much lower, America is gonna screw itself. All the alternative energy will go out the winndow and the last four years of progress will be lost. Then, the next time oil goes back up, we "won't be prepared" for it (just like this boom). IMO, 60-70 dollar oil would keep us looking into alternative energy but will also provide affordable gas for people.

Good post. I'm hoping for the same. Not to mention it'll keep things rolling in the oil patch.
